In the latest episode of the soap opera we are living in now, Trump Goes Barking Mad, our eponymously named lead character has just drawn the proverbial line in the sand. You are MAGA or you are RINO. And if you had the bad judgement, nay the unforgiveable gall, the hubris, to donate a nickel to Nikki Haley, well Sir or Madam, you are banned.
Barred, excommunicated, banished to the desert to die (hey, I live in the desert and it’s great. Ring me up, we’ll have margaritas and guac by the pool.) King Trump, the orange excrescence upon our body politic, the pustulant boil ready to go volcanic at any moment — if he doesn’t go postal at Mar-a-Lago first — has outlined the fate of those who refuse to bend the knee to He, Who Must Be Obeyed.

Wow. In fact JFC. He just told David Koch to take his cash and shove it. That is pretty interesting. And this just continues this mad wave of exclusionary tactics. Last we knew, Matt Gaetz was saying that Trump and MAGA didn’t need the female vote, now Trump is banning anybody who has ever donated to Haley — so her voters go down the road. Again, last we knew, 43% of them had already made that decision but now he wants the other 57% to screw off as well.
It must be interesting to believe that you’ve got this kind of power. The man is completely gone. Every single day we get more and more evidence of this.

Trump doesn’t need your votes. Trump doesn’t need your money. But you want to know what Trump needs? He needs immunity and we mean yesterday. An hour after he posted the edict excommunicating Haley donors, he re-posted this.

He’s obsessed with immunity. Here’s the simple lay of the land. Trump can only save himself if he gets back in office. So far his strategy to do that is to alienate every living human soul who is not already committed to his cause. Usually candidates for president attempt to win over people who might be indecisive. Not him. He’s in a winnowing out process. You are pure MAGA or you are a traitor to America.
Trump is a very sick man. The only questions now are two: Is there indeed a camp somewhere and has he bought the preparations for the kool-aide?
It’s ironic. The very first political blog I ever posted was about Trump and Jim Jones and kool-aide back in 2016. And it wasn’t an original thought. A lot of people saw the handwriting on the wall early on.
And we may live to see the prophecy fulfilled. These people are nuts. I was in traffic the other day behind a car with Texas plates. The car had a sun roof and the guy was waving an American flag out of it as we sat there waiting for the light to change. His car was covered in stickers which said, Trump 2024, Tyranny or Liberty, all that kind of madness.
They believe his hype. They buy his drivel. What can you do for the terminally mentally ill? And personally, I don’t think Trump will ever turn down a dime from anybody.
Let me through out a thought: this is the kind of thing that people do in blackout drinking and then the next day they say, “Oh my GOD did I do THAT?” and terrible remorse sets in. I don’t know what Adderall does. Is it conceivable that he’s got some combo of chemicals which render him doing things that he doesn’t remember later?
I cannot believe his aides and/or campaign strategists would allow this. I am almost ready to see a retraction of some sort tomorrow morning, something like, “Joe Biden stole my phone and wrote crazy things with it.”
And on a practical level, this is no time for him to turn down a dollar. He’s not only got legal bills, but the Truth Social, DWAC/SPAC debacle is occurring and he may not have Truth Social on the internet at the time of the election if, for any reason, it just can’t stay in business.
Maybe this is Donald drinking his own kool-aide, one orange sip at a time?

David Koch doesn’t give a cuck for what Humper says. I’ll give him credit for that.
I concur. But at the same time, Koch is going to think twice before he writes a check after this. Or, maybe Koch never intended to write a check. But I find that hard to believe. if Koch believed Trump could win, he would give him money.
David Koch died in 2019.
All the more reason for him to be the one trump wants money from. Dead men tell no tales.
You’re right, it’s Charles Koch. I’ll change the headline.
yeah presidents get immunity, they order killings like on osama bin ladin, they are implicated in war crimes like abu ghrabe like cheney, reagan and iran contra, the us has given them a pass because of commander in chief authority. trump is different, he tried to overthrow the government. Bush I and II, reagun, clinton and obama never did that. There is a difference. to be honest, nixon and Johnson committed war crimes as well. As far as I can tell the only really honorable president we have had in my lifetime is Jimmy Carter. trump does not get immunity he committed treason.
David Koresch burnt his entire ‘family’ up at Waco,(wacko?). Jim Jones had his cult drink poison to visit Jesus, taking 900 souls with him. Adolf reduced Germany to rubble and lowered the population by 15 million. What’s next you might ask? God only knows. In the movie World War Z…after figuring out how to camouflage the healthy humans from the zombies, turned by a virus…Brad Pitt said: fight…help each other…be prepared for anything. Sounds like sage advice. He’s going to openly call for violence as things worsen for him. Count on it.
In the “handover” tonight Lawrence O’Donnell was clearly amused by this. And he played Captain Obvious for a minute, stating that not only will Trump welcome money from Haley donors he will be BEGGING for it! The thought that Trump would turn down a single dollar from anyone is laughable.
“Ring me up, we’ll have margaritas and guac by the pool”
don’t have a number to ring…🤷🏻♂️🥳
No other President needed immunity from prosecution because no other President committed crimes like he does except one.
Nixon would have liked immunity but he accepted his guilt with his pardon.
Trump deserves neither.
No immunity, no pardon, just conviction and imprisonment.
Traitor Tot should be IN JAIL AWAITING HIS TRIALS!!! He should never have been granted bail, or any type of pre-trial release! He has the means (but not the brains) to leave the country. Anyone else who had the means to flee would be locked up! STOP GIVING SPECIAL TREATMENT TO THE ORANGE ANUS!! LOCK HIM UP NOW!!
“They buy his drivel. What can you do for the terminally mentally ill?”
This is the sort of rhetoric Trump employs. It may be emotionally satisfying to say that all Trump voters are so broken. But it thoroughly prevents nonviolent solutions. Do you think we should stop talking and start fighting?
The reason that Trump supporters have a different view of Trump should be obvious. It’s not that they are broken. It’s not that they are different creatures. It’s not even that they think differently, have different values, or different education.
The reason people support Trump is that they have a different media feed than non-supporters.
Abraham Lincoln’s apocryphal quote about fooling some or all of the people has now been disproven. You CAN fool all of the people all of the time (or enough of them anyway) if you feed them individually tailored propaganda. Data is collected from our every interaction with the digital machine and is used to put each of us in a self-satisfying information bubble. It can be used to sell us consumer goods, and also to pit us against each other. Such a divided electorate paralyzes our politics, preserving the status quo. At the same time it makes us easier to manipulate with nudges here and there, as needed.
Anyone who thinks they are somehow exempt from these manipulations, should ask themselves these questions: How would you know? Do you continually seek evidence which contradicts your current knowledge? Or do you scroll past whatever doesn’t validate what you already think? Do you try to examine distasteful opinions with compassion? Or hunker down into an us-versus-them mentality? We are all listening to different podcasts, watching different shows, reading different articles. There are fewer and fewer narratives that are widely told and heard. Common culture has fragmented. There are no venues left in which an idea or candidate has to face the scrutiny of “all of the people”.
