Miles Taylor has shared yet another excerpt from his newest book, Blowback, which depicts Melania Trump pondering divorcing Donald, ostensibly, if there was a ass resignation of people in the White House. Either that means Melania has a conscience or she didn’t want to be publicly embarrassed and I’m going for the second one. Newsweek:
Taylor, an ex-George W. Bush administration official, had conversations with then-White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and former DHS Secretary Kirstjen Neilsen about leaving.
Others who considering exiting, according to Taylor, included former officials Defense Secretary James Mattis, Intelligence Director Dan Coats, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke.
Taylor told Newsweek via phone on Thursday that he admittedly had little interaction with Melania Trump and no deep insight into her marriage with the ex-president beyond what he heard from others inside the White House.
“I found it very interesting at the time that someone had suggested that they had spoken to Melania and felt like there was a chance she would leave her husband if there was the right moment,” Taylor told Newsweek. “I don’t personally know what undergirds their relationship.
“There were a lot of suggestions behind the scenes in the administration, not just outward commentary, but in the administration that there was some sort of contractual obligation Melania had to Trump—and when he got elected there was a renegotiation.”
Taylor then goes on to describe how the plans for a mass resignation never materialized. It was because people were too cowardly. It makes perfect sense. Trump should have been purged from the GOP many years ago but there is not the leadership to do that. Nobody had the balls to get enough people together to declare Trump an unfit candidate. John McCain probably did but he was old and had serious health issues which took his life. But for his brain tumor he might have lived another ten years and felt well enough to take Trump on.
Mitt Romney doesn’t have the balls. That much is clear. He’s just concerned that people running for the GOP primary will stay in the race too long and muddy the waters and waste money. He’s fine with Trump running again, as unfit as he is.
And forget about Mitch McConnell. It will be a miracle if he finishes his term. He can’t do anything at this point.
So much for the elder statesmen.

The lengths people go to to try and paint Melania as some normal caring person amazes me. She, herself, has stated plenty of times that she knows who her husband is and is OK with it. Basically she is the female version of TFG. If she was considering divorcing him while he was in the WH, it was only because it would monetarily benefit her. Since leaving the WH, she has tried to sell stupid NFTs and is apparently running an unregistered “charity” that awards scholarships. If she had ever considered divorcing TFG, the perfect time would have been after Biden’s inauguration and before Cheeto Jesus announced he was running again in Nov 2022. The fact that she hasn’t means she is going to hang onto her “sugar daddy” as long as she can.
As for the rethugs, they have had so many off-ramps that they were too cowardly to take. That they passed on his last impeachment still astounds me. He was already out of office and they may have had some blowback electorally, but nothing as bad as letting him continue to control the party.
I agree with you. When Melania first came on the scene there were articles about her being the abused spouse, whatever, and I laughed. She’s just like him. She’s said as much. She knows she’s go the looks and he’s got the money and she’s an arm trophy for hire. End of story.
But you have to admit it’s interesting to ponder a First Lady initiating a divorce.
If she were smart, she would have divorced him.as soon as he left office, while he still had money to set her up.for life. By the time he is convicted. there may be little left. Most of his supposed billions is tied up I. properties and he owes 450 million to Russian oligarchs and may not be able to pay them. Rumor has it he has a cash flow problem. She either has a contractual.obligation from.the renegotiated prenuptial or is hoping he’ll die soon before the money runs out. Under FL.law she is entitled to an elective share which is around 30%. She has a right to live in the marital.home u til.Barron becomes an adult, if the property was only in. Fat Donnie’,s name, which you can guarantee it is. I had a class in.inheritance law.
The “perfect moment” is when she’s met the obligations specified in her Pre-Nup(s). I think she was enough of a sucker to have believed Trump promising he’d make sure that not just she would get U.S. Citizenshp but that he’d call in favors to get it for her parents. Being Trump, he never bothered where her parents were concerned. So despite wanting to “retire” to some fancy high-rise condo in NYC and a “beach house” out on Long Island with a nice “pension” she negotiated a new Pre-Nup when Trump won. She cried on election night but wound up gathering herself and seeing how she could use it to her advantage. Sit up in NYC “for Barron and his schooling” and provoke speculation of a split, all the while renegotiating terms with Trump. Getting a LOT more for herself including the citizenship for her parents thing. Trump of course dragged his feet on that point so she had to sneak it past him. He was probably furious because that was the thing he could really hold over her head to stick by him for his re-election campaign.
But best of all, I believe she recognized that and renegotiated AGAIN!. She can probably walk away “fully vested” whenever she wants but she’s greedy and as long as Trump is politically viable, if only in the GOP primaries and up to Nov. 2024 he needs her on the payroll to show up now and then. She’s made it clear she won’t be on the campaign trail and I doubt we’ll see much of her. At most a handful of appearances, to “keep up appearances” and both of them know come Nov. 2024 it’s over. Neither will be of any use to each other.
What I hope, and I really mean this is that Trump’s financial house of cards collapses before then. Both his business and personal world (and so much is intertwined) will be under the control of bankruptcy courts and ole “Melanie” won’t have some Trump Org. apartment to set up shop in, or some “country” “cottage” for getaways either. She’ll have to go out and buy those herself! Except if Trump’s money is tied up I’m not sure her monetary payout will be very high on the list of things the bankruptcy judge will authorize.
It’s time for these F’n old dinosaurs to retire and let some NEW, YOUNG blood to take over. I’m so sick of seeing these old F**ks in office not doing a damn thing for their CONSTITUENTS!! It’s all about the $$$, especially with the Rebublicans! I’ve been voting for 50 years and with the way it looks now, with DJT and his cult members, I want nothing to do with voting ever again! I’ve lost all faith in our Legislature and how our Democracy is being destroyed!!!
Moondoggie, if you don”t vote blue, you’re only helping to create the problem!
Don’t be Moon the Loon. The old phuck who is president has used his experience to stop the carnage of the pandemic by using the resources of the feds for vaccines and PPEs, saving hundreds of thousands of us. He then got the unemployment money in 2020, which kept many of us in food and shelter. He passed the infrastructure law which will help all of us for years. He has earmarked money to combat the fossil fuel industry and move us to mitigation to slow climate change. He’s supported Ukraine in their effort to stop putin. He not only saved NATO but has strengthened it with new members. He’s fought for unions. He passed the child tax credit bringing hope to millions. He attempted to eliminate the student loan boondoggle. There are other things but he did this with the Maga crowd running the house and TWO senators who are really Republicans blocking many of his efforts. Ageism is as unfair and prejudicial as any other ‘ism’. The only people who think experience doesn’t matter are the ones without it. Don’t vote??? Then you have joined the nazis in their effort to end democracy. FACT. Make sure you blame THE RIGHT PEOPLE and use your right to vote or you won’t have to worry about it if Biden doesn’t win. Also a fact.
