Is there a national weather bureau in Hell, anybody know? Because I have sound reason to believe that it just froze over down there and we need to verify. Take a look at what Twitter just unearthed and you will agree with me, I feel sure.

Charlie Kirk has decided that Jimmy Carter is a wonderful man. Great, say I. Better to realize the obvious late in the game than never to realize it at all.

But what Kirk has not realized is how this is going to boomerang on him and toot sweet.

Well, you know what question that begs, right? What.About.Trump?

Here we are, CostCo meets Versailles and yes, Charlie, Jimmy Carter wouldn’t be caught dead there. For one thing, the monochromatic nature of the place is hypnotizingly dull. I don’t know if Auric Goldfinger would feel comfortable in the place. I tend to think that he would want some artwork and plants, at the very least, maybe a fish tank or a cat, to liven the place up.

But not in Trump world. It’s all gold plated dullsville, to match the man himself.

And then there’s the elephant in the room, the $2 billion man, Jared Kushner, that we don’t ever want to talk about. It’s the world’s worst kept secret that but for Kushner’s governmental connections, he never, never, ever would have swung that investment deal with the Saudis.

Granted, the Obamas started a production company, Bill Clinton started a foundation, and Dubya went home to paint a picture of his dog, but they and their relatives didn’t sell out the country to the tune of two billion.

We’ll see how this goes. Trump will have to chime in knowingly about Carter when he passes. Let’s see what that looks like and how tacky it gets.

This is what you need to know about Jimmy Carter.

Carter is a great man. He will be remembered as such. I look forward to hearing the eulogies, particularly from Joe Biden, who has been his friend for many decades now and even from Dubya. Dubya will rise to the occasion and attempt to do the kind of eulogy that his father would have done. All the former presidents are part of something far greater than themselves, the institution of the presidency. Trump is not one of them. All he has ever done is shat upon that institution. Hopefully he will keep his mouth shut but I wouldn’t count on it.

  1. Kirk left out Reagan who started the whole Presidents making a pile after leaving office. Hell, Japan owed Reagan big and gladly enriched him. Funny how Kirk omitted the name of the guy who started the trend. But he’s right about Carter. Jimmy Carter worked around the world to ensure free and fair elections and in some rough places. He did humanitarian work, trying to bring food and access to clean water in far flung places. And that’s just some of it. Then there’s his work with Habitat for Humanity. Both he and Rosalynn were out there regularly, not just “photo-opping” but doing actual work. They were good at it by the way. This country and the world have been fortunate to have had Jimmy Carter rise to prominence. And soon, when the time comes a sharp contrast will be drawn and without anyone having to openly point it out between him and Trump. If Trump looked small and petty when McCain died (and he did) you ain’t seen nothing yet!

  2. Working hard long hours on houses from the ground up, until the house could be turned over to the new owners, was a pride and joy project for both Carters … I believe it became the tools that made them actually live longer …

I have to say the people that claimed Carter was not an effective President never took into account him being a Nuclear Physicist, visiting the labs and radiation production areas in other countries including Iran … putting on pull-on booties and facing all the lab workers on site to find if they were producing WMD’s as well as power plants …

He was a smart, generous person, always with a ready smile and would NEVER even think of doing ANYTHING to disrespect the office of the President … THEN THERE’S TRUMP, the biggest loser on our planet !!

  3. A great one-term president, because he never stopped serving his country. An example of self-effacement, humility, generosity and kindness. The absolute antithesis of 45. I’ll always remember seeing him at Jackson Square in New Orleans during the waning weeks of the ‘76 campaign. The world will miss him.

  4. The sad thing is that he will finally be lauded as the national treasure he’s been all his life. It should have been while he was living it.
