No sense makes sense   Charles Manson

It is not hyperbole to say that the 2022 midterm elections are going to be among the most consequential elections in United States history. If the Democrats win, and even increase their majorities in the House and Senate, then they give President Biden 2 more years to move the ball forward and perform for the American people. And if the Democrats lose, the House, then the GOP will throttle the 1/6 committee, shutting it down, obstruct everything Biden tries to accomplish, and buy a two year breathing period for GOP state legislatures to finish the job of ensuring GOP minority rule, at least in the House, for the foreseeable future. As well as laying the path for His Lowness to return to power.

But put that aside for a moment. Because this is going to be the most fractured, twisted, convoluted election cycle you are ever going to see, and something I don’t believe has ever been seen before. Because, rather than a traditional election campaign, this campaign is going to be run on two polar opposite tracks.

In sports, you’re used to rivalries. The Red Sox vs the Yankees in baseball. The Bulls vs the Knicks or the Lakers and the Celtics in the NBA. The Chiefs vs the Raiders in the NFL. Or the Canadiens vs the Maple Leaf’s in the NHL. Well, in politics, the normal match up every cycle is the Democrats vs the Republicans. Different teams, but at least playing the same goddamn sport!

But now, think of the Chicago Bears playing the Cleveland Cavaliers. Or the Golden Knights playing against the Washington Nationals. How do you watch, or even play the game when the two teams are playing completely different sports? because that’s what we’re heading for in the 2020 midterm elections. Two teams playing completely different sports.

Normally, the Democrats pick candidates and incumbents, and the Republicans pick candidates and incumbents, and they get into the campaign and piss all over each other about things like Medicare, infrastructure, the deficit, healthcare, education, and all kinds of stuff. They present programs and agendas to the voters, and fight over whose ideas and plans are better. But that isn’t going to happen in this midterm election cycle.

Because one party has totally abrogated the idea of governance. The Democrats are doing what they always do when they have power. They are legislating, and they are moving the people’s business forward. They will campaign on the success of Biden’s vaccination efforts, the Covid relief bill, the Child Tax Credit, the new bridges, roads, airports and rural broadband. As well as hopefully lower Medicare and general drug prescription costs, universal pre-k education, universal child care, climate control advances, and paid family leave.

Meanwhile, the GOP has a different election strategy in mind. They are going to run on The Big Lie, Big Bird as a propaganda outlet for kids, teaching your kids that the racism in the history of this nation is bad, personal freedom from mask mandates and vaccines, critical race theory, and a whole plethora of various !Anon conspiracy theories.

Are you seeing my point? For the first time in history, the two sides are going to be running campaigns based on two totally separate, parallel tracks. With no space for any kind of a comparison of ideas, plans, or principles. This is shaping up to be a totally base turnout driven race. But when you look at the dynamics, that can actually be a net positive for the Democrats.

Because the GOP has no reasonable argument against the successes of the Democrats. But the Democrats have every opportunity to slap back GOP candidates and incumbents for their extreme positions. They can draw the parallel of Nazi Germany book burning to the local school board rantings about burning books. They can easily refute Trump’s GOP Big Lie about the 2020 election by showing GOP state audits that showed that the results were sound. They can poke all kinds of holes in the GOP’s arguments,  while the GOP is going to have a hard time trying to knock the Democrats when they’re desperately trying to take credit for bills that they all voted against!

And so, strap in my dear friends. This is going to be an election like none you have ever seen before, simply because there will be absolutely no crossover lines for debate or comparison. Oddly enough, the Democrats ultimate savior may end up being Trump himself. The Cook Political report is projecting that there will be 65-75 competitive or highly competitive House districts in 2022. Trump is hell bent to purge and moderate members who don’t support him slavishly. If Trombies win those primaries, they are highly likely to lose in close competitive districts. Strap in kiddies, it’s gonna be a helluva ride!

  1. The democrats need to shout these facts over & over in media, in every interview, @ every damn opportunity, from today until the swearing in ceremony in January 2025. There’s a fact for the kiddies who believe Santa, God, sex drugs & rock & roll, etc., will swoop in to save our collective asses. Nope. It has to be us.
