Lesley Stahl Owned Jim Jordan Last Night, If You Missed It

Before you see this video, answer me this: Shall we take up a collection for Jim Jordan so that he can buy either 1. A jacket, or 2. A different color shirt and tie? The man is amazing. I often wonder if he was born in the same blue shirt and yellow tie. Maybe his mother dressed him in that as a baby and he never figured out that there was any other outfit available on the planet.

It goes without saying that he lacks taste and imagination — except when it comes to dreaming up conspiracy theories. Then he’s got all the imagination in the world. Jordan was on 60 Minutes Sunday night, sans coat as always, and he basically made an azz of himself with Leslie Stahl.

I can understand a “type” of clothing. I personally have a number of different colored sweatshirts and varieties of Hawaiian shirts and leggings because I like those styles. I get having a style. But one shirt and one tie, and that covers national television, congressional hearings, probably his own wedding? Seriously, did Jordan get married in this same shirt and tie? I am certain he will be buried in this shirt and tie, of that I have no doubt.

Beyond that, Jordan’s commentary is ridiculous. He’s a third-rate (if that) congress member from an uber gerrymandered district and like others of his ilk, Paul Gosar, Marjorie Taylor Greene, he is virtually bulletproof for that reason. He is a complete embarrassment to his district but maybe they like that on some level.

At least Stahl stood up to him. She hasn’t been high on my hit list since she interviewed Marjorie Taylor Greene, thereby normalizing that kook. At least here Stahl did raise some kind of an objection and of course Jordan folded. I guess he thought this was Fox News, just on a different channel. You can see the look on his face, like a scared mouse when it realizes it’s cornered.

The guy who posted this tweet evidently is a MAGA but I, too, object to how Stahl handled this. She was way too charming. “There’s no evidence of that,” she cooed. This man is the biggest liar in American politics and she should have been more hardline with him.

I cringe as I see this going on daily on American television. 60 Minutes used to be a kind of gold standard of interview shows and investigation journalism. They have slipped and are now normalizing the abnormal, rather than calling it out for what it is.

I think that accessibility is the reason. I think that the entire mainstream media is hedging its bets and not going too hard on Trump or any of his sycophants because they don’t know which way the election is going to go and they’re too chickenshit to stand up for America and tell the truth.

We got where we got in 2016 in no small part because of the mainstream media refusing to report Donald Trump as the freakshow that he was. We saw a dumbed down form of reporting the years he was in office and now we’re still doing the same playbook, pretending that this sociopath is normal.

He is not. What will it take for American journalism to finally make the sea change it needs to make? Or will it simply never happen? Trump is not mildly eccentric, he’s out of his flipping mind and his own niece, who is a professional psychologist, attests to that and at length. This is all glossed over by the media again and again, “oh, that’s just Donald.” America has become a gigantic dysfunctional family where a lunatic, enabled by the GOP, is now everybody’s crazy uncle and we all tolerate him.

He needs to be out of public life and behind bars. That is his just reward which he has so richly earned. I wonder how close we will ever get to seeing justice done?
