As you may recall from yesterday, a Maricopa County superior court judge shot down a motion to dismiss the case of American Oversight, which is a non partisan watchdog group which seeks to examine the records of the Arizona audit. Ergo, American Oversight is now empowered by court order to scrutinize this fiasco in the southwest. The Hill:
American Oversight Executive Director Austin Evers hailed the ruling, saying it was a key step in providing more transparency to Arizonans over the audit.
“Starting now, the Arizona Senate is going to have to face real, public accountability,” Evers said.
The Arizona Republic, a Phoenix newspaper, has also brought suit demanding records. So it looks like the auditors are going to have to disclose what they’ve got and that should be something. The audit has moved at a glacial pace and several completion deadlines have been missed, not surprisingly.
Still, the audit muddles on. And who is steering this good ship? Some real characters.

This is good. They need “legions of angels” to help reveal the fraud. Maybe they should ask the angels’ help in acknowledging reality. Not to be presumptuous, but I tend to think that if they could actually talk with Jesus right now, He would tell them that. This is human folly, pure and simple.
And don’t forget Wendy Rogers. She thanked everybody for lawfully electing her in 2020 then turned around and said the election was a fraud. The irony of it apparently never occurred to her.

Where do these people come from who don’t know normal terms like “coup d’etat?” We’ll give her the benefit of the doubt and say it’s a typo. It happens to the best of us, but with the MAGAs you see sloppiness and ignorance all the time. They’re not the most literate people, even the ones holding elective office, horrifyingly enough. I guess that makes sense. We elect the kind of people we deserve, right?

God help me, I’m with Barry Goldwater.
Look at what has happened to the Republican party in Arizona. Goldwater was admittedly out of touch. He got slaughtered in 1964. Oh, the beauty of that almost totally blue map. But still and all, he was a better politician than Paul Gosar and the clowns you see in Arizona today. He would have never gone along with this audit nonsense. Nor would John McCain. The misfits in the Arizona GOP that are doing this are cut from a different bolt of cloth.
Oh, hell, Goldwater was already showing his disdain for the GOP back in the mid 90s at how far to the right it was moving even then. It seems to me that there were jokes going around back then that he’d never win an election as a 90s Republican because he was too far to the left. (He’d actually become more libertarian overall–supporting abortion rights, supporting gays in the military and supporting legalization of medical marijuana.)
Yeah, he would’ve been a disaster as the country’s President (especially in the 1960s) but the current GOP is so whack-a-doo that there are any number of GOPers from the past that you’d be willing to support.
Perhaps ‘Coup De Tat’ was a Freudian slip revealing their own intentions.

A low quality, cheap, bad condition, attempt at a coup seems an accurate description of what the Republicans are trying for.
