The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences met Friday and decided that Will Smith’s punishment for slapping Chris Rock is banishment for for the next ten years. Insider:
Smith will be barred from attending “any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.”
In the statement, the Academy said the punishment is “a step toward a larger goal of protecting the safety of our performers and guests, and restoring trust in the Academy.”
