It must be interesting to live in an alternate reality. I am a lifelong reader of science fiction and fantasy. Well do I understand the desire to see a different color of sky, different stars shining down at night, to go ride on the back of a reptilian-horse creature, in pursuit of mischievous furry pink prey that live in sand castles in the desert and will steal your best wine if you let them. I get all that. It’s the exercise and free rein of imagination. What I don’t get, is the fantastic slander that the fabulists of the right-wing come up with.

We know that Hillary Clinton was the victim of a right-wing smear campaign for twenty years. And they did their job well. What I find astonishing is that the woman has been out of public life for five years now, but she’s still the star of their fantasies. They can’t seem to recast that role, no matter what.

Listen to this.

Some of the comments were very interesting and so I share them. They are spot on.

I agree, these groups don’t meet at Target. So if this guy has something akin to Eyes Wide Shut and he can show us the tapes of the Illuminati and their sacrifices and Hillary leading the ritual, that’s fine. Let’s see it. I’m sure nobody would enjoy seeing it more than she and Bill would.

The right-wing churches are places where mentally ill people go and I can tell you that from first hand experience. I have shared before about a homeless woman who crashed at the house I used to share in Southern California. She was there for 14 months, didn’t pay a nickel in rent, never contributed to the household in any material way. She felt her work as “prayer warrior” was sufficient. Seriously.

And during this time she never looked for work or sought to improve her lot in any way. She was completely out of touch with her status in life. She didn’t identify as being homeless and having no job, she identified as being “chosen” by God to speak in tongues and have visions. Her visions told her that she was going to become the star of a Christian television show and wear evening gowns and introduce the musical acts, “like Vanna White” she said. She would be right at home in the congregation of the loon talking in this video.

Karl Marx said, “Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.” Religion is where people turn for comfort and that’s a wonderful thing. I’ve known many kind and generous souls who had strong religious beliefs and were pillars of their churches. This isn’t the same thing. Right-wing religion has turned into a cult, built upon a foundation of fantasy and lies and there for the grift, nothing else. To people who are already on the edge of dealing effectively with reality, it’s the tipping point. They go over the edge, thinking that they’ve found something wonderful. What they have found is a place — the only place — where their delusions are taken as fact and they can find people to sponge off of, in the name of the spiritual fellowship.

I marvel at what the Republican party has become. The religious fringe that was always there is now elevated to high profile and it goes hand in glove with the white supremacy fringe, which has also always been there. Both groups are paternalistic in doctrine.

And look for members of both groups to run for office in 2022. Recently Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio announced that he would not be seeking reelection to the House because it simply wasn’t worth it, the threats to himself and his young family. What that translates as, is one more rational person leaving the Republican party and one more right-wing loon running for office. I don’t know how far down the rabbit hole the GOP can go, because, frankly, they’ve gone much farther down already than I would have ever thought possible. But for the sake of America, I hope they find their bottom soon and stabilize their act. We can’t have one functioning political party in this country. Democracy is built upon having two. Where we are now is a set up for fascism.

  1. If Hillary Clinton was a high priestess in the satanic church, surely Satan would have stuffed a few ballads and Clinton would have won the 2016 Election.

  2. It’s verbal click bait. That’s all. Every f*cking one of these guys is in it for one thing and it ain’t “the faith” or “the faithful.” It’s for f*cking $$$ for themselves.

  3. Yes, the two party requirement. Although that, I believe, is only the minimum. With a minor shift to a more parliamentary form, we could probably do very well with sixteen. In fact, if my long term observations are correct, isn’t that one of the major problems within the Democratic party right now. Many different factions, each with its own agenda, and each unwilling to compromise for the greater good.

  4. I think these lines by Chesterton sum it all up:

The North is full of tangled things and texts and aching eyes
And dead is all the innocence of anger and surprise,
And Christian killeth Christian in a narrow dusty room,
And Christian dreadeth Christ that hath a newer face of doom,
And Christian hateth Mary that God kissed in Galilee,
But Don John of Florida is riding to the sea.

  5. Heck, I’m sure the Satanic Temple would be more than happy to testify she is not one of them. But she would need to prove actual harm resulting from thre slander in order torack up the damages which she actually deserves.
