Donald Trump is flexing some political muscle like any mob boss. He sent a letter to Meta on Tuesday, asking the platform to unban him and explaining how that is in the public interest to do so. Some excerpts from his letter from NBC News:

“We also believe that a continued ban would basically constitute, in the words of Mr. Clegg, a deliberate effort by a private company to silence Mr. Trump’s political voice,” Trump’s campaign wrote. “Moreover, every day that President Trump’s political voice remains silenced furthers an inappropriate interference in the American political and election process. […]

“We believe that the ban on President Trump’s account on Facebook has dramatically distorted and inhibited the public discourse,” Trump’s campaign wrote in its letter to Meta on Tuesday, according to a copy reviewed by NBC News.

At least he stopped short of threatening a lawsuit. But then again, who needs a lawsuit when you’ve got the House of Representatives ready to make demands on your behalf?

A Meta spokespersondeclined to comment about Trump beyond saying the company “will announce a decision in the coming weeks in line with the process we laid out.” […]

“Trump is probably coming back to Twitter. It’s just a question of how and when,” said a Republican who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations with Trump about returning to the platform. “He’s been talking about it for weeks, but Trump speaks for Trump, so it’s anyone’s guess what he’ll do or say or when.”

Another Trump confidant who also didn’t want to be identified speaking about conversations with him said that Trump has sought input for weeks about hopping back on Twitter and that his campaign advisers have also workshopped ideas for his first tweet.

Maybe Trump should do a Douglas MacArthur and say, “I have returned.” Is there any chance that Trump knows who MacArthur is? Nah.

I have always believed that Facebook will let him back on. And you know he can show up on Twitter at any time. So here we have Trump polluting the social media cyberspace again.

Oh, well. It was nice while it lasted right? Look for 2023 to get nuts and fast.

  1. Great. Then you guys (along with the rest of the media), can breathlessly report every brain-fart that he posts. I really want to see him locked away if for no other reason than to shut him the hell up.
I’m sick of seeing, hearing, reading what pass for “thoughts” from this idiot.

    • Well, if you’ll get busy and find the hard evidence that would lead to his being locked away, then no one would need to “breathlessly report every brain-fart that he posts.”

But, that’s too much work, isn’t it? Much easier to whine and kvetch than take any real action. Yay, keyboard warriors!

  2. I think it’d be hilarious if Facebook agrees BUT they make Trump realize he’s there on Super-Duper Probation and the FIRST violation of Facebook’s Terms of Service (which Donald will have to agree to–as do all users of Facebook) results in an immediate one-month suspension with NO appeal. After that month is finished, he can come back but a SECOND violation results in an immediate six-month suspension (again, no appeal). Then, he can come back but a THIRD violation results, once again, in a permanent ban.

And if Donald argues that’s unfair, they could easily appeal to his vanity and say they’re only doing it because he’s so special and important and that he really should be a role model for all Facebook users. And they’re absolutely sure that his being a role model will mean that he would NEVER violate the Terms of Service so he really doesn’t have to worry about ever being banned. (All the while, moderators will be parsing his every single post and repost to find that first, second and third violations which we all know will come within 24 hours of each reinstatement.)

  3. Well color me not at all surprised. Of course FB or Meta or whatever Z-man is calling it will take Trump back. Like Elon he’s lost a stitload of money with nonsensical ideas for taking something that was making lots of money, LOTS of money and deciding that it wasn’t enough and needed a complete overhaul. Trump will mean clicks and that means money and that’s all that matters. I think the only reason Trump hasn’t jumped back to Twitter is his “very fine” brain hasn’t figured out how to grab that particular megaphone again and get the far larger audience/attention he craves AND keep the money grabbing grift called Truth Social generating cash that he so badly needs. He’s got enough investor problems as it is and if he starts twittering again even MBS won’t toss Truth Social a financial lifeline.

  4. He only wants back on FB because that’s the platform his base is comfortable with (and they probably aren’t too hep on keeping their hardware updated, much less software).
And what’s the deal with “Truth Social” and the Chinese Communist Kevin Guo behind it all and Devin Nunes is clueless?
Maybe tfg is just wanting to blame his lack of popularity on social media? Haha.
