For some reason the lyrics of the Manhattan Transfer’s Twilight Zone disco hit came into my mind as I started to go through the Twitter threads and select clips from the Whacko Waco Trump rally in progress.

It makes perfect sense my subconscious would pick that song. It’s a song about an other-dimensional experience, and one of those is going on down there in Texas tonight.

Trump did a dramatic flyover of the venue, with Top Gun and Danger Zone playing on the ground. Then the cult convention started and the first words out of the announcer’s mouth were a lie. It figures. As the old expression goes, “begin as you intend to proceed.” Here we go.

Sigh. It’s down to number 34 now.

Then, starting on this note, the action moved right along. The frontrunner for the 2024 Republican nomination for president of the United States began talking about his mistress. Or, one time sex partner, in all events.

Trump is right. We do have a great First Lady. Her name is Jill Biden. Melania is not First Lady except in Trump’s fantasy world where he’s president.

Speaking of Melania, if she’s with him in Waco, she hasn’t appeared on camera yet. Just saying.

I’m not usually the one to take cheap shots, but this image was too good not to share!

And then the bitch session starts anew. Yes, as expected, Trump goes on about how he won in 2020. (Yawn.) The new spin is that lawyers who represent Republicans are now targets of persecution as well.

Now Trump takes a not so veiled swipe at Ron DeSantis, complimenting the political machine that DeSantis inherited, basically, for his success. Interesting coming from Trump, because Trump used to credit DeSantis’s success to himself.

It should be noted that Trump’s been up on stage around an hour now and people are getting restless and bored. Pundits are popping up on Twitter with, “is that all there is?”

And maybe that should be Trump’s new theme song now, instead of YMCA or theme from Titanic.

Trump must be bored as well because then he started lying.

How do you do it, Donald? You’re so brave. You’re such a mensch. We all wish we could be you.

Now he gets into some slight drama. This is about how the J6 defendants are being traumatized in jail, innocent patriots all.

Again, we see zero platform, only grievance. The GOP proposes to win on this — presupposing that they put him on the top of the ticket.

Rupert Murdoch is right. Trump can’t change. The GOP will assuredly lose if they choose him again.

I’ll watch this thing through until the end, masochist that I am, but if this is the best Trump has to bring into 2024, he can forget about it. Joe Biden can start writing his second inauguration speech right now.

Trump chose the Waco venue as the symbol of fire and brimstone, of revolution and militia, of guns and Christians uniting together. He’s delivered nothing.

    • He can’t see it that way. He will ride this horse until he’s gotten every nickel of grift out of it that he possibly can.

      What I’m wondering, is if he does get the nomination and Biden beats him like a drum, again, then is he going to claim that 2024 was stolen too? I guess he’ll have to, right?

  2. If she’d been willing Trump would have boinked Daniels more than once. A lot more. Also, let’s not forget that he DID carry on an extended affair with Karen McDougal, a former Playmate of the Year during that general time frame. His then pal David Pecker (his actual name – you can’t make this shit up!) who ran the National Enquirer did the “catch and kill” thing signing McDougal to a contract to write about it and then never publishing it. And it’s clear there were others that stunt was pulled with! I’m not a fan a fake giant bazongas, but other than that Daniels is clearly more attractive than Melania who I still sometimes think might be a really high quality animatromic doll.

    • Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, always. I don’t think any of that is the issue here. I think the sole issue is that Trump is pretending to be one guy, is in fact another, and then he went out and falsified business records and broke laws to cover up his dalliances.

    • The suspense is getting dragged way out now vis a vis the Manhattan indictment. I don’t think the indictment in the case is going to be lethal to Trump, but as a part of the whole picture, to wit, Georgia, January 6, the SEC looking at Truth Social, the E. Jean Carroll rape trial (which I believe is next month) it all adds up.

    • I did find it odd that Trump talked about Stormy instead of revving the crowd up to “death and destruction.” That’s more of what I was expecting.
