Donald Trump must have spoken with the lawyers again this morning and they must have shared the sad facts of legal life with him, which is that Jack Smith’s grand jury is going to hand up an indictment on the January 6 insurrection. The grand jury meets Tuesdays and Thursdays. I would expect this to break tomorrow, since Trump is telegraphing it today.
Now here’s the sobering part: it has been opined that Trump could use Truth Social the way that he used Twitter, back in the day, to rally his troops and instruct them to take to the streets. He owns the platform, so there’s no likelihood that anybody is going to shut him down, should he do this.
On the other hand, MAGA did not swamp the courthouses, either in Manhattan or in Florida, the first two times Trump was arraigned. So there may be nothing to worry about.
Your guess is as good as mine about what’s going to happen next.

OMG. I’m almost tempted to believe that little Trump social statement was written by someone for whom English is not a first (or even second) language. “Peacefully & patriotically speech”–really? Two adverbs used to describe a noun?
Then again, this probably WAS written by Trump. Even folks with almost no knowledge of English would know that phrasing doesn’t even sound right.
My mother is rolling over in her cremains box. She had an almost laser-focus in ferreting out word misuse. My grandfather, on the other hand, used to say, “Use a word ten times and it’s yours.” Nothing was said, however, about using it correctly.
