Shortly after the January 6 insurrection Kevin McCarthy pretended he never heard of QAnon and that he wasn’t even sure how to pronounce the name. Forget about feigning distancing now, Donald Trump has brought QAnon right into the fold. In fact, he’s taking direction from them, they’re the tail wagging the dog. He gave them press credentials for his recent Florida rally and not for the first time.

Conspiracy theorists getting press credentials from the Trump administration is nothing new. Alex Jones got press credentials to the White House. I’m sure Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite are still rolling in their graves. VICE News:

By giving credence to Pedersen and his colleague, Trump is effectively endorsing the many conspiracy theories the movement spreads, including the lie that the November election was stolen and that Trump is still the rightful president.

Throughout Saturday’s rally, which was attended by thousands of die-hard Trump supporters, the former president once again repeated the conspiracies about stolen elections that were first promoted by QAnon.

“We won so much, and then we had a rigged election unfortunately,” Trump told the crowd. “I am not the one trying to undermine American democracy,” he said later. “I am the one trying to save American democracy.”

Trump’s effort to “save American democracy” includes supporting the bogus recount currently taking place in Maricopa County, Arizona, which is being run by a company called Cyber Ninjas, a group the county’s Republican-led Board of Supervisors called “grifters and con artists.”

Trump says that QAnoners are “people who love our country and who like me very much.” He’s never wanted to condemn them. Interesting how a CT site started by some pornographers in Manilla has risen to this stature. It’s just another example of the moral rot and intellectual decay in our culture right now.

  1. Of course he likes them and welcomes them. They sing his tune. I heartily agree that it is a sad state of affairs when a good number of people buy into this stuff, lock, stock and barrel.

  2. He also liked Putin, who I firmly believe is behind a lot of this rabble on the right: Q, the militias, Faux, all the conspiracy crap, especially the Big Lie folks. Anything that creates chaos and pandemonium here. We saw how they had infiltrated and money laundered through the NRA. It seems natural to me that all these other anti-Democracy types are probably also somehow being funded/influenced by Putin. He loves the chaos we’re experiencing in this country. Payback for the humiliation he felt for Russia after the collapse of the USSR.
