You know, one of the oldest sayings I know, from my childhood is If life gives you lemons, make lemonade. It’s a cute and mildly inspirational little number. But I swear to God, only Traitor Tot can take a pitcher, water, ice, sugar, and lemons and make cyanide!
Right now Trump is so internally conflicted that he looks like Jack Nicholson in The Shining. On the one hand, he desperately doesn’t want to be indicted, as is easily witnesses by his almost whiny pleadings on Bullshit Social asking Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg to do the right thing. Way deep down, I think somewhere near his left kidney, that little truth bone is telling him that being arrested and arraigned would be a degrading and humiliating experience, making him a loser.
And yet The New York Times is reporting that according to aides, Trump is exhilarated by the thought of being perp walked and arraigned. He has even practiced his perp walk, and is debating the wisdom of whether or not to smile for the cameras as they record his humiliation for posterity. And always the transactional imbecile, he has bragged of bagging $1.5 million in donations in the last three days since he announced his impending arrest.
Because Trump is not only totally transactional, but also sociopathic, Trump is still able to mentally wipe away personal and professional humiliation in the name of short term personal gain. And that’s exactly what Trump is doing right now, using fundraising to mask the impending embarrassment of becoming an indicted defendant.
Former US Attorney and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie summed it up perfectly when he said in an interview, I don’t care who you are, nobody wants to be indicted. It’s expensive, it’s humiliating, and you’ve just set yourself aside from everybody else. Trump is using short term political gain to mask away what will come later, when he turns out the lights for the night.
But while Traitor Tot may be able to use that mental Merlin the Magician bullshit to keep it together, the GOP, especially the House GOP have no such magical skills. You’ll notice that pretty much everybody with a (R) after their name is jumping in front of a microphone to defend Trump. But listen to the defenses. They decry a WOKE DA, a politically motivated hit job, and Gym Bag Jordan put it like this, They’re going to indict the guy on a paperwork dispute?! Give me a break! But you’ll notice the one thing that’s missing? Nobody is actually coming out and proclaiming His Lowness’ innocence! Even for these spineless toadies, there are some bridges you just don’t burn.
But let’s look past Trump’s self aggrandizing bullshit, and look at what everybody else, including the GOP is seeing. Let’s just say that El Pendejo Presidente is right. He raises a couple of hundred million from the sheeple, and cruises on to the GOP nomination for President in July. What happens next?
While Trump’s brain dead base may be thrilled at the thought of voting for a President who has more dings on his rap sheet than they do, everybody else is going to be horrified. What’s Trump’s platform? Vote for me because I’m a political prisoner. You know, like that Ghandi dude? Or worse yet, what if he’s already convicted, and out on appeal? Other than a Trombie, who wants to vote for a convicted felon for President?
And consider the numbers. By the time we get to the general election ,it’s highly likely that FrankenTrump will be weaving his way through the Georgia and federal criminal justice systems as well. The numbers are simple. Trump’s slobbering base is about 33% of registered GOP voters. Which means that they’re about 18% of the eligible voting population of the United States.
And if Trump is on the ballot, that’s all the GOP is going to get next November. And they know it. And that’s why the entire GOP caucus is trying to walk between raindrops, mostly by shooting the messenger, in this case Alvin Bragg, rather than reading the message. And indicted Trump is a dead man walking in a general election, and if they tie themselves too closely to him, so are they. And so they play word salad games. Which I don’t think will work, since there’s way too much video of them carrying Trump’s water for eight years now.
If an indicted or convicted Trump is on the ballot in 2024, the blue tsunami may literally put the GOP into the political wilderness for a decade. Because there isn’t enough industrial strength Clorox to get the Trump stink off of the party before then. Especially if Norfolk Southern keeps letting the goddamn cars keep flying off the tracks. Don’t touch that dial.
That’s exactly why we should do everything (legal) in our power to ensure TFG is their candidate. Blue wave, anyone?

When I used to teach lifesaving as a water safety instructor, I emphasized NEVER go into the water to save a drowning person unless you know what you’re doing. You being the only reachable floating surface, the drowning person will latch onto you and BOTH of you will drown. That’s why you first see if you can reach them some other way. If you’re trained in self defense lifesaving, you will know how to block their grab, spin them, secure them on your hip and get both of you to safety. Given this is a politically drowning psychopath so to speak, and so far, no one in the gop is capable of either saving him or the party, my guess is they all will go down with his bloated carcass. Maybe a phoenix will rise from the ashes. Time will tell. Time will also tell if the democrats have the will to go in for the kill. Just imagine if the parties switched realities. Can any of us possibly imagine just how ruthless the gop would be if ANY democratic president had done what Trump has done? Firing squad anyone? Idaho? You betcha. Never underestimate evil. Just ask European and American leaders when Hitler rose to power. They helped him rise to power by being spineless. Fact.
