SC Polling Reinforces Trump’s Cult Leader Status

Even after the last week, hell the last several weeks Trump appears poised for a huge win in the GOP South Carolina Primary. Losing in civil court, getting his butt handed to him by the DC Circuit and even AGAIN trashing military service (in a state with a strong military presence) hasn’t seemed to dent Trump’s lead.  A new poll shows Trump with a 35 point lead over Haley. Once again we see proof MAGA has become a cult and Trump is its leader.

The only question is whether like Jim Jones’ followers MAGA will drink (orange of course) Kool Aid when the gig is up and Trump orders them to. I shouldn’t crack jokes but I can’t help but think of a meme I once saw that I think was from Occupy Democrats that said the only difference between Trump and Jim Jones was that Trump will charge his followers for the Kool Aid. (He would. On instinct. Or just a last bit of self-satisfaction from a final screw you you dumbass suckers thought before his own death) I’ve grown skeptical of polling, but we aren’t all that far out from the South Carolina primary and this seems to be a reputable poll.  According to this Newsweek report:

A CBS News/YouGov poll released on Monday shows that the former president is favored by 65 percent of South Carolinians likely to vote in the state’s upcoming GOP primary, while Haley is the choice of just 30 percent of voters.

Drilling down a bit it appears Haley being one of their own counts for little. In fact, 75% of respondents indicated Haley being from South Carolina made “no difference” in their choice. So much for home state advantage. Not that we should be surprised. Haley might have made herself a national figure when as Gov. she saw to it the confederate flag flying over their Capitol was taken down but the good ole boys/gals only grudgingly went along. Racism is an essential part of the MAGA cult and Trump gave them “permission” to be open about it. Between her heritage and skin color is it any wonder the MAGAs in South Carolina flock to Trump?

Well, getting back to details the voters there believe Trump is more likely (55 percent) to “definitely” beat Biden while only 33% felt the same about Haley. The linked Newsweek article goes on to point out other polls show Trump with a commanding lead, citing one by Real Clear Politics indicating a Trump lead of 31.7 points.  So as I said it seems Trump cult leader like hold over both full-blown MAGAs and GOPers who are receptive to the siren call is as firm as ever.  Yes, it’s a cult. Trump seems to have melded the traits of Jim Jones and Scientology’s David Miscavige together. Either GOPers are part of the cult or familiar with it and those in the latter category are afraid to say/do anything that would cause the leader to set the “true believers” on them.

Whether Jones, Koresh or others cults wind up ending and in tragic ways. The exception is that Scientology has been there for so long and has gotten away with it’s intimidation of others. That’s something to think about, but the way I see it we shouldn’t waste time hoping Trump will implode and the whole thing come crashing down prior to November. Even if convicted in criminal court after a sh*t show of a convention he’ll be the GOP nominee. We’re going to have to beat him, and MAGA at the ballot box and that’s not going to be easy. We already know they will cheat, lie and even intimidate with threats of and probably at least some actual violence. So if you haven’t already then get to work.
