I read yesterday that most deaths from Covid are now those that have not been vaccinated. Sounds like that could be an extinction level event for the anti-vaxxers and republiQanons? I have no sympathy for those that are so dumb as to not get vaccinated. Thats the only extinction level event that makes sense to me.

I’d say it sounds like something Bradbury would write, but in a Bradbury story the state would be refusing medicine from the sick and people wouldn’t care. In this case, the state is trying to give people medicine and they’re refusing and dying. It’s insane.
They need to be mandatory, just like the shots kids have to take to go to school. Spreading a deadly virus should no more be allowed than driving 100 through a school zone. Public safety. Period. Besides, allowing them to go around helps the virus mutate & around & around we go.
Most of the people who are getting it are younger, because they didn’t think they needed to get vaccinated (being young and healthy).
People out here that were not vaccinated got covid one got a sore throat one got headaches and then were fine. If you have another disorder that will complicate your health by all means get the shot but if you look at statistics and truth less than 2% get covid and of that even fewer die. That is of the unvaccinated. Now we know that Fauci has financial interest in the Wuhan lab as well as in one of the vaccines. We are also learning that the people that got the vaccine are now having medical problems due to the vaccine remember it is an untested vaccine. There is a reason your family cannot sue if you die from the complication from the vaccine but you do what you want at least we still have that freedom for now.

I’m not sure what medical “problems” we’re getting from the vaccines? There are cases of myocarditis in young men but most recover fully and myocarditis can be caused by viruses and other reasons as well, so I’m not sure that people should be worried. It’s a small percentage of vaccinated people and most recover fully. What other “problems” are we supposedly getting? These people will use any excuse to justify passing covid around and not wearing masks, social distancing, or getting the vaccination. They will be the ones hospitalized or dying of the Delta variant. I wish them luck with their ignorance and I hope they keep their covid to themselves!

Saw that too: I believe the number was 99% of those landing in hospitals have not been vaccinated; and that 99% of those dying from the virus also were not vaccinated.
Again though, this refusal to be vaccinated will at some point turn around on some of us who have been vaccinated–the vaccines are not fail safe, nor are they a one and done vaccination as is the case with smallpox. The mutations are to be feared–a few identified so far work much faster to debilitate their victims, and to spread much more rapidly. Thus those not vaccinated are risking their lives far more at this point. But to my one and done trope: at some point a mutation will be impervious to the vaccination we’ve received; or our vaccine will need a booster, but which will have to take into account the newer forms of the virus.
My son has said in recent weeks that the so-called freedom to choose not to be vaccinated is tantamount to the freedom not to defend our country–his contention is that if we had to fight WWII as of now, hell, we’d lose because we no longer embrace a national all for one and one for all social contract in times of trouble.
