One Fact GOPers Don’t Want Uncovered By 1/6 Commission Is How Trump Cued the Gallows Makers To Work On 12/19

One memory that will be seared in the American consciousness for some time to come, is that of a sitting president telling his disappointed supporters to march on the Capitol where the vote was being certified, because the vice president presiding over the ceremony that day had somehow betrayed the president and not “overturned the election” as he was told to. Cries of “Hang Mike Pence!” rang through the air as a group of armed rabble headed down the road to find Mike Pence — and they had the means at their disposal to hang him. The gallows had already been erected.

This was what got the ball rolling, or the saws whizzing, more accurately.

Right Wing Watch is reporting that “Investigative work by Advance Democracy Inc., a nonprofit research group, shows that the very day that Trump issued the tweet calling his supporters to the nation’s capital for a Jan. 6 protest, denizens of an anonymous web board called TheDonald.win got busy plotting their contribution to what Trump promised would be a “wild” protest on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol. What could be more wild than having an apparatus of execution on the premises, fully functional and at the ready?”

Isn’t that a swell idea, a gallows? It caught on like wildfire.

User webthing was quick to offer their carpentry skills. Within three minutes of DJT2020’s post, webthing volunteered to build it.

On Dec. 29, user Rogerdoger, referencing Trump’s promise of a “wild” event, piped up with his own potential contribution to the effort. “I’m thinking of bringing some rope. Any good suggestions? Is paracord any good. Oh, hey Republicans, just fyi, you’re the traitors we are going to be looking for…just fyi. You think you were worried about BLM and Antifa? It’s going to be wild.” The post also included a screenshot from Amazon showing a 500-foot spool of TOUGH-GRID brand paracord.

When another user pointed out that paracord, presumably to be used on a gallows, could wind up cutting off the head of the person being hanged, Rogerdoger replied, “Good point.”

After all, that could be messy.

But in a since-deleted comment, Rogerdoger seems to have reconsidered the combo hanging-and-decapitation possibility. “Cool,” they wrote, “so [the hanged] can’t thrash around so much while they’re dangling.”

Another Dec. 29 post, this one by TheDonald user eddieblasphamy, generated 171 comments: “To all the carpenter pedes: Get to DC early and build a gallows. The media reaction would be epic and glorious.”

The specter of a guillotine, however, remained alluring to some commenters, with user jc99ta adding, “Plus, it can be used for slicing watermelons between beheadings!”

Elsewhere on site, users fantasized about the politicians they’d like to kill, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Reps. Jerry Nadler, Adam Schiff, and Maxine Waters. Mitt Romney, who is Republican, was also included, presumably for his vote to impeach the former president.

Since the minute he came down the escalator and started talking that crazy talk about Mexican rapists and building the wall, Trump ginned up the lunatic fringe in this country, who Hillary Clinton referred to as “the deplorables.” Except they’re not just the lunatic fringe. They are 74 million strong — or at least people who voted for Trump were willing to ignore the lunatic fringe to get other concessions from a Trump presidency. Liz Cheney has admitted she voted for Trump but clearly the January 6 insurrection was a bridge too far for her. So who knows how many other Trump voters were like minded? We will probably never find out

The other thing to bear in mind was that Stop the Steal rallies were taking place for months before the January 6 insurrection, and voting audits go on to this very day, and it’s been over six months since the election.

All of this is intertwined and the main reason Mitch McConnell doesn’t want it looked at too closely is because he is afraid at how all the dots are going to connect once they’re known. He’s desperate to put an end to a 1/6 Commission before the 1/6 Commission puts an end to the GOP.

Again, harken back to the prophetic words of Lindsey Graham, “if we nominate Trump it will destroy us and we will deserve it.”
