Insurrectionists are like thieves, evidently, insofar as there is zero honor amongst them. The self-dubbed “QAnon Shaman” known to the yous and mes as the weird shirtless dude with a horned fur hat and red and blue face paint, counted upon a blanket pardon from his guru and idol, Donald Trump. Said pardon is not forthcoming and so the shaman has decided to switch religions and turn state’s evidence — specifically, testifying at Trump’s impeachment trial. Phoenix AP:

Lawyer Albert Watkins said he hasn’t spoken to any member in the Senate since announcing his offer to have Jacob Chansley testify at Trump’s trial, which is scheduled to begin the week of Feb. 8. Watkins said it’s important for senators to hear the voice of someone who was incited by Trump.

Watkins said his client was previously “horrendously smitten” by Trump but now feels let down after Trump’s refusal to grant Chansley and others who participated in the insurrection a pardon. “He felt like he was betrayed by the president,” Watkins said.

The words of Trump supporters who are accused of participating in the riot may end up being used against him in the impeachment trial. Chansley and at least four others people who are facing federal charges stemming from the riot have suggested they were taking orders from Trump.

Chansley hasn’t yet entered a plea to charges civil disorder, obstruction of an official proceeding, disorderly conduct in a restricted building, demonstrating in a Capitol building and other counts. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Washington.

I guess some people need to find out the hard way what the rest of us have known for years, which is that Trump dumps girlfriends, contractors, allies, inlaws, outlaws, he doesn’t care. It’s all about him. Once you get that notion firmly understood, the rest comes easy.

  1. Like Momma Sock used to say, “If you can’t listen, you’ll have to feel.”.

Not only would I not give this assclown any leeway, I would charge both the inciters and participants with capital murder of a peace officer……just as those who participate in the commission of a robbery and someone gets killed are charged with murder the same as the one who pulled the trigger.

    • There has been great consternation over the charges filed to date against so many of the insurrectionist domestic terrorists. IANAL but have some understanding of LE matters and process and there’s no doubt in my mind that serious effort is underway to investigate some pretty serious conspiracy charges that would ultimately target some very big fish. I’d also remind folks that while the initial charges against most of these folks (which ARE felonies btw) seem limited they also have two effects. One is what we see with Mr. look at my abs in that he’s clearly ready to sell out anyone to cut himself a deal. He isn’t the only one but perhaps the most recognizable and both well known AND well connected one. However a lot of smaller fish might have plenty to trade on who they coordinated with which can lead up the chain of various levels of LE and into the political world. The initial charges shake loose a lot of tongues that will lead to probable cause for new search warrants and so on just like happens in an organized crime investigation. Basically I’m saying be concerned enough to keep a watchful eye but don’t despair. I also think that once the impeachment trial begins a renewed focus will be placed on Jan. 6 and matters leading up to it as even many Senators/jurors and House members won’t have seen a considerable amount of the evidence. And seeing their faces in the pictures and footage of what took place in the Capitol while at the same time shining a far bigger spotlight than has been the case so far will have an effect. Pressure will mount for more investigations by the DOJ and other entities and more (and more) people will face an increasing number of charges.

I could expound on this all night but I’ll end with one last thought. Keep in mind how stupid so many of these people were to take their cell phone videos and plaster them all over social media. Even AFTER they knew the feds were looking for them. I can’t help but wonder if perhaps prosecutors didn’t press as hard as they might have because in many cases they had good reason to believe that many of these idiots would take their getting released on bail as a “I’m going to get away with it” attitude AND that they’ve gone right on talkiing to their pals about new stuff they want to do! And since they are out on bail guess what? Investigators and prosecutors will already have considerable authority to monitor their movements and communications! The stupid runs deep in so many of these people I truly believe they will wind up screwing themselves and others a good deal more for having been released on bail!

    • This is what happens to people who decide that all those stories of The Donald stiffing contractors and firing illegals as soon as it became know that he employed them was just “fake news.”

  3. This is why they’re starting with the lower-level charges: to encourage them to flip. Some are looking at heavier stuff, which may give them more incentive.

  4. it feels to me like DoJ are waiting. I guess what they’re waiting for is confirmation of the new AG. This is the biggest domestic investigation in the nation’s history so it’s understandable that they want a leader in charge. There’s still some leftovers from the Trump Error in place and that has to change, the sooner the better.

  5. Trump Error…may I steal that, Michelle? And yeah, people forget it’s only been a week and a half, not nearly enough time to root all the Trumpists out.

  7. “I was only following orders (given by my president)” Now – where have I heard that defence before????

I doubt that flipping on the Trompador will help much – the jury is already packed and determined to acquit, so his ‘evidence’ will be useless
