That’s some headline, especially from Newsweek, who loves to publish all those right-leaning editorials. But then Matt Drudge gave up the Trump ghost quite a while back, so people do tend to go where the clicks are and away from the losers. That’s an important fact to note because the truth of the matter is nobody, but no body, is truly on board for Donald Trump’s ridiculous piffle posing as policy. The sycophants he has are there because they believe that they can obtain or keep power and money through him. No other reason. The minute the mirage dispels that Trump is somebody who can lead you to a winning deal, that’s when the Trump era ends.

And according to one political strategist, that moment may be be much sooner than you think. A matter of days, in fact. What does he know that we don’t? Newsweek:

Simon Rosenberg, founder of the Democrat supporting New Democrat Network think tank, said Trump’s election hopes would be significantly dented if the Supreme Court upholds a decision by Colorado’s Supreme Court to strike him off the ballot.

“What’s remarkable is that there is a non-zero chance the Supreme Court could rule with Colorado and Trump could be finished within the next two weeks,” Rosenberg wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. The ruling is now on hold until January 4, pending an expected appeal from Trump’s team to the Supreme Court. […]

Steven Cheung, spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, said: “Unsurprisingly, the all-Democrat appointed Colorado Supreme Court has ruled against President Trump, supporting a Soros-funded, left-wing group’s scheme to interfere in an election on behalf of Crooked Joe Biden by removing President Trump’s name from the ballot and eliminating the rights of Colorado voters to vote for the candidate of their choice.” […]

If the Supreme Court does uphold the Colorado ruling then it could set a precedent for Trump regarding legal actions in other states. There are currently suits in over half of U.S. states, where cases hinge on the interpretation of Section Three of the 14th Amendment.

You know that the opposition is saying that the drafters of that amendment did not mean it to include the U.S. president, only an “officer” in the government or a “member of Congress,” but not the president. I can’t wait to read the ditzy rationale supporting that idea. That’s a bit like, “We want all police officers to wear a badge with an ID number, so people know which officer it is doing things, except for the Chief of Police. S/he can remain unidentified and go totally batshit whenever s/he wants.” Or, “We want all our teachers to park their cars in a certain parking lot, except for the Principal, he can park on the lawn or the middle of the street if he feels like it.” There’s something that falls apart on a common sense level with all this, that a group of people, in this case government office holders are prevented from being on the ballot, but oh no, we never meant that rule to apply to the highest office in the land. Goodness, is that what you thought we said?

But who knows? Crazy things have been argued before. The concept of Blacks being “separate but equal” was the law of the land for many decades thanks to Plessy v. Ferguson, before Brown v. Board came along and introduced reality into race relations.

Anything can happen. Remember that the Colorado trial court found, “by clear and convincing evidence, that President Trump engaged in insurrection as those terms are used in Section 3 of the 14th Amendment”. So factually, Trump is on the hook. His loophole, if it exists, is what we just discussed, that somehow the highest office holder in the land is exempt from governance under the same law as every other office holder.

I can’t wait to hear the arguments. Once again, the definition of sophistry is: “the use of fallacious arguments, especially with the intention of deceiving.” You are going to see some real linguistic legerdemain, folks. Specious arguments will be pulled from thin air like rabbits from hats. It’s show time, as we move into the Last Days Of Trump.
