According to an article in Raw Story more people who had been relying on Trump funded legal representation have decided to seek new lawyers.  Uh Oh.  I suppose the title pic is somewhat hyperbolic, at least for now but from where I sit a snowball has started rolling down the hill and it’s getting bigger.

Bigger enough to crush Donald Trump in criminal court.

Let’s start with the linked article which notes that in addition to Carlos DeOliveira who a few weeks ago decided he’d be better off with a lawyer HE chose, three other Mar A Lago witnesses have given the boot to John Irving who was being paid by Trump to represent them.  Again, while we don’t know they’ve turned on Trump it kind of makes sense they are at least thinking about doing so.  And that if their lawyer is being paid by Trump he might not be okay with that.  Or, as we heard all about from Cassidy Hutchinson try to coerce them into supporting Trump even if their instincts might be telling them they would get left holding the bag.   I’m starting to wonder how judge Loose Cannon, who has kicked up a legal fuss about a simple conflict of interest motion is reacting to all this.  She can’t be happy but what’s she going to do?  Tell these witnesses “No, you DON’T get to go picking your own lawyers and then run to prosecutors telling the truth on Donald Trump!”

So the ole snowball is rolling down the hill and getting bigger.  But there’s another part no one seems to be saying much about.  Trump has got a whole bunch of co-defendants in Georgia and from what I gather many have legal counsel they got on their own.  Trump’s not footing the bill so their lawyers aren’t going to worry about what’s best for Trump!  Basically the snowball is already bigger than folks realize.  The funny part is that we have Rudy begging for a deal and prosecutors aren’t interested and Trump hasn’t been helping him pay legal bills.  That “fundraiser” Trump will supposedly host for Rudy?  I saw where it’s 100k a plate!  Why do I get the feeling there won’t be all that many willing to pony up to attend?  Personally I think that whole thing was just a way for Trump to toy with Rudy, like he did with Jeff Sessions.

Mark Meadows has at times seemed like he might have, or be willing to cut a deal and if I’m not mistaken he’s got his own non-Trump paid for lawyer.  But he might have, with his having taken the witness stand last week have taken a shovel to his own defense.  And Trump’s too meaning prosecutors might not need him anymore with all the other evidence they’ve got on him and Trump and what he did for Trump.  I don’t know about you but I wonder how many others high up in Trump’s circle, especially after him throwing his son under the bus prior to his NY State civil trial next month have been making overtures with prosecutors to turn on Trump?

That’s the point I’m making.  We’re not there yet but we are getting to “Everyone for themselves” territory.   We know there are people who have turned on Trump.  Worse (for him) people he thought he had under control via lawyers he hired to represent them are increasingly deciding a lawyer being paid by Trump might be more concerned with Trump’s interests than their own.  So the number of them going out and getting a truly independent lawyer who will put THEM first is increasing.  And as I keep saying forming a growing snowball headed downhill right at Trump.

Things, legal ones are increasingly spinning out of Trump’s control.  About eefing time!

  1. I’m agnostic, but my first thought was there is a god. Karma, schadenfreude, whatever. I’m so happy that some people are waking up to the reality that Cheeto Jesus will sacrifice anyone, including his own kids, to save his own skin. It never made sense for DeOliviera or Nauta to continue to be loyal to TFG. I hope that snowball continues to grow and gain speed as it heads down the mountain.

    • g gordan liddy put his hand on top of a candle for Nixon. So many of them went to jail for that scumbag. I guess Nauta and the other guy are just as dumb.

      • I’ll believe it when I see it. I don’t think anybody is going to go to prison for Trump. Nauta may not have woken up yet but it took the IT guy just one conversation with a lawyer that wasn’t on Trump’s payroll to see the light.

  2. I suspect they are realizing that they have look out for their own skin, since no one else will.
If that includes not lying or covering up for trump, which could result in increased prison time for them, I certainly don’t blame them. Whether they go completely against trump remains to be seen.

  3. The one thing that is common about all the scumbags: they take a while to gain power and do their damage, but when their end comes it’s relatively quick. And they usually take lots of their henchmen along with them. YEAH!
