The political rhetoric is starting to heat up on Twitter in advance of the midterm elections. The current trend is for prominent Republicans to bash Democrats using hyperbole and absurd arguments. Here is a recent example from Don Jr:
Congrats to the Democrats, who after last night are now officially the Party of impeachment, open borders, abolishing ICE, banning the 2nd Amendment and unbridled socialism.
The Democrat Party of John F. Kennedy is dead. RIP.

Of course, this tactic trickles down from the top. Here is Trump Sr’s contribution from this morning. Check out this hyperbole:
The Democrats are making a strong push to abolish ICE, one of the smartest, toughest and most spirited law enforcement groups of men and women that I have ever seen. I have watched ICE liberate towns from the grasp of MS-13 & clean out the toughest of situations. They are great!

Yes, there are Democrats calling to abolish ICE, but this is far from a mainstream movement in the party.
But the best was Mike Huckabee’s attempt to bash Democrats using his one-year-old grandson as a prop:
I'm worried. My 1 yr old grandson is at my house. He does nothing for himself, pays for nothing, cries when he doesn't get his way, throws tantrums, and wears diapers that I have to change. I'm afraid this kid is a Democrat! Hope he outgrows it.

To which Ted Lieu fired back:
Dear @GovMikeHuckabee: You have no need to worry because your 1 yr old grandson was not ripped away from his parents by the @realDonaldTrump
Administration.In Christ,

Good work, Mr. Lieu.
