Things are not going well for Don Don the Clown. He had quite a run at the big top. His might not have been the greatest show on earth but it was most assuredly the nuttiest. Nobody, anywhere in the world, disputed that. And now Don Don is looking to make a come back. And he’s ready for his close up, Mr. DeMille. Unfortunately, it’s looking more like a selfie where he’s the only one in the room.

Mary Trump was on the New Abnormal podcast the other day and she had a few thoughts. Huffington Post:

“He is addicted to being at the center of attention. I’m sure he’s as riveted by these hearings as we are but in completely different ways,” Mary Trump said. “And for him to feel that the focus is shifting away from him or that he’s losing power will make things even worse because he won’t confront that and process it and deal with it … and therefore worsen his situation.”

More than ever, his “temper, the out-of-control narcissism, must be just unspeakably difficult for people around him to deal with. Not that I have any compassion for any of them at this point,” she said. “But, yeah, it’s only going get worse from here.”

She said a statement this week from Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), vice chair of the select committee, that the former president tried to reach out to a witness in its investigation of the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, is a sign of his desperation — an “enormous misstep”— because he doesn’t like to leave his “fingerprints” on such missions. He’s also “completely overestimating his power to manipulate people. I think that that ship has sailed,” Mary Trump added.

There’s been a lot of speculation, naturally, about which staffer he called. A good guess is Hope Hicks. Would Hicks have ignored the call and called her lawyer instead, is the question?

“Probably the most glaring part of these hearings is how much the people around Donald knew, how long they knew it,” she told Jong-Fast. “Again, none of this should shock us. None of his behavior should shock us. None of his viciousness should shock us. But how long [his supporters} stayed silent, how long they protected him, knowing what they knew … when there was an opportunity to do something, even after Jan. 6,” Trump said.

It’s an old expression, Democrats fall in love and Republicans fall in line. I get it. But what I don’t get is how they can continue to be in love with Donald Trump after all the destruction he’s wrought. Because to be complicit with Trump is to be complicit in the destruction of democracy itself.

  1. I’m thinking all the frustration that he stuffs down inside is why these rallies are so important to him. I suppose it’s a relief from all the outside pressures he is under. The latest 2 rallies having to be canceled or postponed could be taking a toll on him.

  2. The reporting I’ve seen re: the witness, is that he/she is support staff at the WH and is still employed there. Which would mean civil servant, probably housekeeping or something similar. That is not someone TFG would normally notice or develop a relationship with. Reporting also stated this witness could corroborate some of Hutchinson’s testimony.

TFG calling someone like that, 18 months after leaving office, after Hutchinson’s testimony, is textbook witness tampering. The fact that the witness didn’t take the call and immediately contacted their attorney was the smart move.

    • But that’s so out of character for Trump. Everything we’ve ever learned of him indicates that he does NOT acknowledge the existence of someone like a mere housekeeper. Remember, people who’ve been publicly known to be in Trump’s inner circle but get “dismissed” by Trump and then tell some relatively unflattering (ie, truthful) story about Trump find themselves being designated as mere “coffee boys”–as if that’s intended to minimize the importance of any unflattering story the person may have told about Trump. (Sort of like how people on a company’s assembly line report their company looks to be in trouble because they’re not getting any overtime and people are being told to call in day-to-day to see if they need to even come in, well, most journalists wouldn’t take the time to even pass it along as a mere rumor. But when the company’s president or board of directors reports the company may need to lay off people or cut hours, then every journalist will take the same “company in trouble” story as a serious issue.)

      • Actually, I don’t think it is. He is infamous for punching down. After Hutchinson’s testimony, he probably thought who else could corroborate and landed on this person. He wouldn’t have acknowledged their existence normally, but he had to be aware or one of his acolytes were aware of who might be able to attest to her truthfulness.

    • There, are lots of low level.staffers, like the ones tasked with gluing back together papers,Donnie tore up. They are GS positions and don’t leave when a new Prez,is sworn in. Linda Tripp was one, a Republican who hated Clinton. They are not political appointees, and even the president cannot fire them without going through the required process, laid out to protect competent people from being fired for no reason other than party affiliation. They can apply for a transfer or cable be transferred but not tired without due process. My bet is on the staffer being one of those GS types Fat Dennis wouldn’t even recognize if he tripped over the person.

I suspect a lot of these people were disgusted by Trump’s behavior. They are probably the source of a lot of the info the committee has gotten.

    • He may be in early stages of dementia debut this behavior is fairly standard for Fat Donnie. He has always been a self-centered,,impulsive, uncaring S. O.B. I am pretty sure someone else warned him about the staffer, and being the egotistical, self-absorbed cretin he is, he decided he could persuade a,staffer to.lie for him even if meant them going to.jail.for perjury. In Trump World,,that staffer should be thrilled to get a call from him and should immediately do what he wants from the sheer joy of being acknowledged by him. He is the 8th grade bully who was, about to be expelled from his fancy private school for his behaviir .
