El Pendejo Presidente is so funny when he’s desperate! And you can always judge the degree of desperation by just how over the top he goes with his hyperbole, and how far afield he ranges with it. That being said, only a total and complete imbecile could sit in the Rose Garden and proudly proclaim that George Floyd is actually happy that he was choked out by a troglodyte in a uniform, so that he could enjoy the protests in his honor, and revel in the jobs report. There’s a special room in hell for this kind of blatant stupid. And it’s right between the elevator and the noisy ice machine.

No doubt about it, the Republicans are doing a victory lap over the May jobs report. But if you look at then closely, you’ll notice that they’re doing it the way most guys head up the stairs to the gallows, Pissing in their pants with a brave smile on their faces. Every economist qualified enough to not work in the Trump White House is already warning that one report does not a recovery make, and there are already rumblings that the unemployment number will be adjusted due to faulty calculating. *Spoiler Alert* It’s going up. And the number is fudged anyway, since any small business using the PPP program is paying their employees even though the place hasn’t reopened. Basically they’re unemployed, just not counted. My explanation is the old Wall Street phrase, Even a dead cat will bounce once if you drop it from high enough.

But it’s still fun to watch these 98 lb weakling gorillas pound their chests about how strong they are, and how they saved the world. To listen to Trump tell it, he, failed CNBC hack Larry Kudlow, and The Munchkin Man wrought an economic miracle that will be the subject of legend and song down through the ages. There’s just one small problem with this.

They’re all so full of shit that they slosh when they walk. Cast your mind back to the dark early days of the meltdown of the economy, as the coronavirus took a serious stranglehold. What was Traitor Tot’s master plan? Order everything kept open until all of the workers died from the virus. And Moscow Mitch’s genius contribution? Have Munchkin fire up the printing presses to keep large corporations awash in ready cash. In other words, same old GOP bullshit. You know, there’s a reason why they call it trickle down economics. Because that’s what happens when you don’t shake well enough when you’re through.

In fact, everything in the economic miracle that Trump is currently touting was a Democratic idea! It was Pelosi and the Democrats who used the veto power of the House to force Yertl the turtle to double the size of the stimulus package, in order to make sure that small businesses at least got a fighting chance. You know, the fucking PPP that His Lowness is bragging about right now? It was the Democrats who fought tooth and nail to extend unemployment benefits, in preparation for the long haul, and provided the bounceback fund that ensured that workers on unemployment received full paychecks instead of the standard 60-70%. And it was the Democrats who pushed for a version of Andrew Yang’s Universal Income plan that got those $1200 checks into everybody’s hot little mitts. Mitt Romney just started touting it later when he found out that everybody at home thought it was cool. And McConnell and the Senate GOP slugs fought then every step of the way on it.

And this is why, as I sit here and watch all of the Trumpkins submit their names for fast track canonization to sainthood, I can only roll my eyes and laugh. They’re trying to take all of the credit for everything that the Democrats proposed and fought for, and hoping that nobody will notice or remember. But Pelosi and the Democrats did a bang up job of drawing and publicizing the battle lines at the time, and you can bet your ass that they’ll remind everybody when campaign time rolls around. I swear, there are days that covering Trump and the rest of these idjits is more fun that the original barrel that all of these monkeys came in!

  1. I must respectfully disagree with your last paragraph. EVERY time some GOP asshole tries to take credit for all those items you cite that DEMOCRATS fought like hell for (and the GOP opposed with all their might) our leaders need to demand access to cameras and be writing op-ed pieces pointing out the facts – and the GOP’s hypocrisy. It’s a long time between now and the post convention period when a truly unique campaign will take place. If we don’t challenge the GOP’s spin right now and all summer long their repetition will start to take hold in people’s minds. I fear the fact Trump’s numbers haven’t been down in the 30s for weeks now to our not countering the GOP’s bullshit.

If we wait until fall to set the record straight I fear it will be too late.

    • Beautifully put Dennis, and you’re right, we very respectfully disagree, especially in the coronavirus election we’re going to have…There are only 3 people, Joe Biden, his eventual running mate, and Tom Perez who should be hitting the national spotlight…After all, Biden and his running mate are the only ones running nationally, and Perez is the DNC chair…Every other incumbent, House and Senate has a SPECIFIC constituency that they must connect with…Let them tout their battle chops directly to the people who will come out and vote for them…The more constituents that they can drive to the polls, the more will vote UP ballot as well…Pelosi and Schumer did a great job of drawing the battle lines during the debate, they can do so again as we swing into the general election campaign…

      • I think Perez needs to keep out of sight. Bernie Bros get a bit angry when he appears. I’m not sure even Bernie can convince all of them to vote. I am hoping the surge of voters registered during the protests make the Bros inconsequential.

        • Bernie Bros need to get off their High Horse and Vote for Joe like any other decent American would do ! Do they want the ORANGE CLOWN for another four yrs. ? Let’s just get real here ….

    • Denise, I’m with you. The Democrats could surely use some lessons from the Lincoln Project guys and I understand their budget is not that big.

    • Denis , I disagree , I think the GOP is going to wimp out. They know that Bitch McConnell’s ass is gone, believe me I now live in Ky. and we are going to vote his ass out. They won’t be under his thumb much longer. And they have probably figured out that Traitor Tot is not going to be reelected either.

  2. To be fair, the occasion of Trump’s comments was the press conference about the jobs report. However, the actual context of the Floyd comments had nothing to do with the jobs report. Trump was saying that Floyd could look down and be happy that long-awaited police reforms were finally coming. In his usual ham-handed way, he was trying to say the Floyd had not died for nothing. I agree with Kamala Harris. Floyd’s name should never pass his lips. He had no business using Floyd as a prop. It is a profanity to do so. If Obama had said something similar, it would be sincere. Trump doesn’t know sincerity. Everything is merely a tool for him to use, including Floyd’s death. If solid police reform is implemented before November, we know Trump will take the credit.

    • Fair or not Dana, the fact that he could even brain fart out saying something like that on day 12 of more and more populous marches shows not only a political disconnect, but a disconnect with reality at all…Every time he’s unscripted, he just free associates with absolutely NO consideration or even awareness of the gravity of a particular moment…The man is a walking whoopie cushion, loud and offensive…

      • I don’t disagree. I just think we should characterize things accurately. His comment was stupid, but it had nothing to do with the jobs reports. Trump gives plenty of ammunition. We should just use that.

    • Commentators had been complaining for a couple of days that trvmp hadn’t even mentioned Mr Floyd when faced with the protests. This was his ‘mention’ warped by his narcissism.

      • He doesn’t give a damn about Mr Floyd , are they surprised ? The bastard didn’t even go to the mans funeral to show any kind of respect .

  3. That picture of those two idiots reminds me of a Mel Gibson movie. Thunderdome! two go in, one comes out! Who will be next to enter the ring!

    • Yeah, it was kind of comical ….You’d have to be blind to not see how miserable Melania is , she doesn’t even try to fake it !

  4. Jesus said nothing about being gay, smoking weed, or other superficial human choices. He did preach strongly against the evils of hypocrisy, the love of money, & what condition your heart & soul are truly in. He also preached a righteous judgement is waiting for us in eternity. You’d think these so called followers would be more concerned about what kind of “treasure” their hearts worship. As Dylan once wrote in his song Idiot Wind…”you say you lost your faith. You know it’s not like that.you had no faith to lose and you know it.”

    • There is a lot that Jesus didn’t mention. Logically, lack of mention is not permission. Some choices are wrong based on a larger biblical principle. A common old example is smoking. Jesus did not mention smoking. The Christian prohibition against smoking is based on the principle that “the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit” and should be respected as such. The rest of your point is well taken.

  5. Joseph Murphy, I love all your articles. You just tell it like it is ….and I always agree with you . Keep up the good work !
