Don’t you tell me I can’t be that stupid! Any Trump supporter
I swear to God, I almost had a stroke when I saw the footage on Ayman tonight. Granted, I was distracted, but there they were on the screen, a mob of vapid, empty headed morons, standing in front of a building, waving protest signs and screaming, BIRDS AREN’T REAL! BIRDS AREN’T REAL! BIRDS AREN’T REAL! And my head dropped into my hands, and I whimpered to myself, This can’t be for real! Nobody can be this fucking stupid! And they weren’t.
It turns out that this is actually a well planned out social media and reality exercise to show just how fucking stupid these far right Q-Anon conspiracy theories are. And when I realized that, I laughed my ass off! How perfect! Find a conspiracy theory so stupid that even conspiracy theorists rebel and the stupidity. Which shows how stupid I can be when I set my mind to it.
Because the next though that came to my mind was, Shit. Imagine a Q-Anon supporter standing on a street corner, reading the newspaper, Hell, and he reads about the Birds Aren’t Real movement in the paper and says to himself, Hell, that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard! /Then looks up and says Hey, wait! Isn’t that JFK’s limo?!?
Look, I am all for a reality based outlook, but that requires everybody to have a reality based outlook, and these people don’t. We all have that person in our lives, at work or in the family, where you tell a joke, everybody laughs, but then you have to explain it to the one person with no sense of humor. These people live in a self contained bubble of ignorance.
Which is a problem. Because most of these people used to be normal! But now they have fallen down a rabbit hole, and they have families in crisis, trying to figure out how to do an intervention, or have just cut ties with them. And this isn’t an accident.
Look, Ursula and I are pretty much a mom and pop bodega. We’re founding writers for Politizoom, and we’re still the backbone. Ursula is the publisher of the site, and I post what I can. But no matter how deep our passion for our opinions, or our platform, Ursula constantly scrambles for every view and shekel to make the site profitable. We can’t run the site if we can’t pay to.
The same thing is true for far right conspiracy sites like Q-Anon and others. They may be totally irresponsible, but they’re still in this to turn a dollar! And because they have the gelt, they have the ability to subvert platforms like Facebook to use their algorithms to match vulnerable members with the very things and subjects that will give them knee jerk reactions, and suck them into the madness. And this must stop!

QAnon and all of the right-wing madness is indeed a money grift. And that makes sense, because Trump is a money grift. Politics always has its monetary side, but it wasn’t until Trump got into it that the paradigm got reversed. Politicians used to ask for money to get elected, now they’re getting elected to ask for money.
We’re living through the tabloidization of politics. Unbelievable.
Given how many MAGAts are rural/small town types I’ve been wondering how this is going over in their ranks. Why? Well, I grew up hunting and that included dove hunting, and pigeons too (year round and the breast meat can cook up to be quite tasty in and of themselves as well as make great broth) and later in college got into hunting waterfowl. My point is that a LOT of these people have freezers filled with birds they will consume and have consumed a shitload of bird meat in the past. Given that, when some of their fellow MAGAts start up with this birds aren’t real bullshit how do they react? Is is possible that at least some of them might start thinking MAGA world is a fucked up place if it’s populated by idiots who are THAT gullible? I ask because every time many normal folks think it can’t get any more bat-shit cray it does. Of course, many of us know all to well there’s an uncomfortable truth that too many don’t want to face – that no matter how bad things are at any given time they can (and sadly sometimes do) get worse! So, if we’re lucky this is one instance that, added with others might get some of the folks still within reach of the top of the hole to pull themselves out and rejoin the rational, sane world.
The area where I lived in west Texas is home to bird hunting in the form of doves and pheasants. (Probably pheasant season right now!) There are also a lot of small birds in the fall, because it’s near the Central Flyway and the migrants go through.
The potential end of democracy was hastened when the Republicans gutted education, allowed corporations to dump as much money in politician pockets as they wanted to shape policy, & eventually embraced a racist criminal to take over their party. They had multiple opportunities to end his reign of terror but decided they would go with fascism to keep their own power. Fascists destroy. That’s what they do. Hitler reduced Germany to a pile of rubble in 12 years. The Republicans can still beat the record. Trump took power in 2016 so we’re only 5 years in. If he steals power back in 2024, he should be right on schedule, so by 2028 we’re right there. Thanks to all the cowards in the democratic party who still believe in civil discourse. This is a fucking fight to the death. If I’m looking for warriors, the institution that produces beauracrats,(law school), is the last place I’d look.
