The GOP continued its quest to probe the murky depths of lunacy and dishonesty yesterday when Texas Republican Representative Dan Crenshaw appeared on Faux News to explain why the loss of the Titan Submersible in the Atlantic was all Joe Biden’s fault.

Never mind that the readying, deployment and transport of the U.S. Navy assets that could have possibly intervened had the Titan survived the reported explosion an hour and a half after launch would have taken days (as it ultimately did) Crenshaw peddled the notion that somehow the President was slow to act and indecisive.

Huffington Post

“Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) laid blame Thursday on the U.S. Coast Guard after the armed forces branch said it had found pieces of the lost Titan submersible on the ocean floor. Things might have turned out differently, he said, if leadership “had just acted sooner.”

Crenshaw made the comments shortly after the Coast Guard said Thursday that a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) discovered a debris field “consistent with the catastrophic loss of its pressure chamber.” The Wall Street Journal later reported that the Navy had registered sounds consistent with an explosion or implosion shortly after contact with the Titan was lost Sunday, but a Navy official later said it would have been “irresponsible” to assume then that the Titan passengers and pilot had died.”

An investigation is ongoing, I am sure, and the details of what exactly happened, and when, will be established and the Navy absolutely is correct that the search had to continue until proof of the submersible’s demise had been established.

But regardless of whatever timeline and sequence of events is eventually determined, it is the height of irresponsibility and deceit for Crenshaw to lay blame at the feet of Biden, who, I suppose, was expected to don his super-friend costume and personally airlift and fly the rescue sub to the North Atlantic himself.

Below is the YouTube Video:

Navy veteran Malcolm Nance and his followers discussed Crenshaws’ accusation on Twitter:

Hear, hear, Paula. Their lies get more irresponsible and fantastical every day.

Gettin his hair done, no doubt 🙄🙄🙄

Yup

Bingo.

    • Nope. Not even close to cray for those stupid mother f**kers. We’re talking about a group of people who lapped up qanon crap like it was ice cream. They will believe anything and everything provided it is stupid enough or crazy enough.

  1. I guess billionaires are entitled to have millions of dollars spent in their name when their vanity projects takes a turn for the worse. Who’s footing the bill for the resources of the Coast Guard and the US Navy for the search? I think if someone wants to take a walk on the wild side, they should leave a bit of money to pay for a search and rescue BEFOREHAND just in case.

    • I was thinking the same thing. The owner of the sub was told it wasn’t safe. The zillionaires who went on the sub all knew the risk they were taking. It’s sad that they perished but like you said, they took a dive on the wild side and paid with their lives. I hope their insurance pays for the rescue efforts, not us!

  2. Crenshaw was probably torn about whether to blame it all on Joe or his son Hunter. Silly Dan. All he had to do was ask a fellow GOPer in the House, hell ANY Republican and they would have said “Dude! What the hell’s wrong with you? Blame it on BOTH of them!”

Toss in Merrick Garland too. If he hadn’t been doing Joe Biden’s bidding and pursuing poor little Georgie Santos and distracting him Santos would have used his superpowers to zip down two miles under the ocean JUST at the instant the hull of Titan began to implode and held everything together until the craft could surface, saving the passengers. (Yes, I know Georgie could have just wrapped them all up in his protective arms and zipped them up to safety on the deck of the mother ship but that wouldn’t have left time for dramatic news coverage of his feat to be hyped)

Dan makes much of his military service. I’m sure he’s got Navy pals, and if one of them isn’t a submariner they can introduce him to any number of “bubbleheads” that can give him a quick education on what happens at crush depth. And how when an implosion happens anyone inside a vessel is DEAD before their nervous system even knows what’s happened. It’s more unforgiving than space. If a pressure suit or spacecraft fails out there it takes a good ten seconds or so for someone to die, plenty of time to feel their blood boil and eyeballs swell to bursting for example. At two miles down under the surface of the ocean, as I’ve heard experts point out multiple time this week the pressure of 5800 pounds per square inch would be the equivalent of having the Empire State building, filled with lead dropped on a human being! Like I said, instant death faster than even the blink of an eye!

Oh, if he and/or GOPers want to blame Biden/Democrats for not requiring a private company to certify a joyride vessel to the same standards as a Navy deep rescue submersible complete with a docking collar that can operate at such an extreme depth I have a question: Aren’t YOU guys the ones who fight EVERY government regulation as though it was an affront to Mom and Apple Pie?

  3. You know, since Adam Schiff was “censured” by the House MAGAts (and the reprehensible GOPers who sat in silent complicity) for his “lies” about Trump’s collusion with the Russians in 2016 (even though there were some very odd “coincidences”), maybe some House Democrat should introduce a motion to censure Crenshaw over his outright lie.

  4. Crenshaw’s just another publicity seeking whore, like the rest of his MAGA buds in Congress. Anything to get attention, like the pathetic losers they all are.

  5. After the latest tragedy in the Med leaving 500 people at the bottom at that particular body of water, let’s spend millions looking for five idiots with more money than sense who were rubber-necking a worthless wreck in the Atlantic. Spend millions after the company that does this stupid sh*t was warned, and not just once BTW, that what happened could indeed happen due to their lack of any kind of fluid dynamics education, submersible construction knowledge, hell, even any minor knowledge about something call PRESSURE when underwater.

It is an obscenity this kind of non-news nonsense gets almost 24/7 coverage in the media. Quite frankly even the kind of coverage here in P.Z., in this article, is an obscenity. This sh*t should float away into obscurity like the wreckage of that stupid, under-engineered piece of shit submersible.

    • Gawking at the Titanic is plain old voyeurism whether it’s people watching TV specials of submersible robots “exploring” the cabins/staterooms and the dining/ballrooms and other places the passengers passed the time. No different than slowing down to gawk at a car wreck to see if there are any bodies covered in sheets. What these people did was a more extreme both in risk and financial cost. Three of them were obscenely rich and I don’t feel an ounce of sympathy for them. They took a stupid risk and paid with their lives for it. The other fully grown adult I have no sympathy for either. A seasoned oceanographer and explorer had HAD to have known the questionable aspects of that particular submersible. But he was a Titanic junkie, and expert (some say the biggest expert) or not he knew damn well that he was rolling the dice every time he went down in Titan. But his addiction overrode his professional instincts and he just HAD to go for another in person close up look. He played a deep ocean version of Russian Roulette and the odds eventually caught up with him. He should have known better. The one person I feel badly about (well, maybe his aunt who during the search told is this and was fearing the worst) is the 19 year old son of the Pakistani uber rich guy. The college kid was scared and told relatives so. He didn’t want to go on that dive but it was Father’s day and he wanted to make his dad happy by agreeing to join him on the “adventure.” A young man with a whole life ahead of him and one of wealth and privilege who it seems was NOT an entitled rich a-hole and might have used some of his good fortune to benefit others wanted his dad’s approval so badly he took what he believed (correctly was a terrible risk) and died. Too bad it wasn’t another famous father son duo with a son desperate to gain dad’s approval! Senior and Junior Don!

    • Spike: I was just thinking the same thing about how many migrants died and how meager the media coverage was while making the spectacle of 5 people dying on a very costly joyride just to see a wreck. It is very sad but the media seems to make it worse.

  6. BREAKING NEWS: GOP leadersheep Cave-In McCarthy has begun several unverifiable rumors that HUNTER BIDEN’S LAPTOP lies deep in the Atlantic Ocean 400 miles off the coast of Newfoundland in the approximate location of the wreckage of the Titanic Ocean Liner. Rumors also abound that the crew of the submersible lost in yesterday’s explosion were on a mission for President Biden to lose his son’s laptop in the wreckage of the Titanic. Although the submersible was completely destroyed and the five gazillionaire passengers all perished, Republican DAN CRENSHAW is leading the charge to get the bottom (of the ocean) to get the bottom (of the rumors) that HUNTER BIDEN’S LAPTOP still lies quietly, unharmed, on the ocean floor. Because many people are talking about the need to hurry (saltwater has been rumored to be hard on laptops), the GOP is working on emergency funding for the rescue mission under the little used and oft-contested “No Law or Government Program In Place But the GOP SAYS THEY CAN Act.” Details to follow. See FOX NEWS for updates.

Apologies for my black (and red) humor. I aim not to offend, only to report what people are talking about.
