Sometimes it takes a while for the broom to sweep clean. The saga of serial sex harasser Andrew Cuomo was a long and chilling one, which led to the resignation of the governor. Now it comes out that his brother the CNN anchor may have violated some of the ethics of his own profession. Daily Beast:

“The New York Attorney General’s office released transcripts and exhibits Monday that shed new light on Chris Cuomo’s involvements in his brother’s defense. The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions,” a CNN spokesperson wrote in a statement on Tuesday evening. “When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly. But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second. However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew. As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation.”

If we are to judge from history, he’ll get off with a mea culpa and return to the airwaves. On the other hand, we don’t know what they’ve found or where they’re going with this.

Life in the fast lane.

Based on what history? The only thing that we’ll see is how the “so-called liberal media” is held to a far different standard than the right-wing media. If this had happened at Fox News, you can be sure that the “journalist” would suddenly go on a one-week “planned vacation” (that, of course, had never been mentioned before) and then go right back to work at the network. There wouldn’t even be any pretense of an apology because the right-wing media people *never* do anything wrong (they only “misunderstand” a situation and make, at best, a “minor error in judgment” that’s been “blown out of proportion by the liberal media that’s out to take me down”).

Cuomo will NOT be back on the air unless his mea culpa includes a proverbial falling on the sword (and one which will likely include his being required to testify against Andrew at every trial in which his “dirt” was used against a victim).
