Let us gather and try to figure out the workings of Ivanka Trump’s *mind* at least insofar as how it applies to her poetry selections on Instagram and her criminal defendant father’s ongoing trial in New York. Newsweek reports it has asked Ivanka to explain, but they have not received a response as of this time. So we will have to soldier on with our best speculation. If you hit the blue link to Newsweek, you’ll be able to listen to a musician recite a poem that includes the lines,

your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

Now, one possibility could be that this is an encouragement to Daddy to keep his chin(s) up and forge ahead, despite the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. That’s one interpretation. Another interpretation is that she’s not thinking of Daddy at all, but feeling sorry for herself. If her father hadn’t made such a hash out of being president, she and Jared might be getting invitations to the Met Gala nowadays and she could walk the red carpet with Kim Kardashian and other stars. If you missed Kardashian’s appearance the other night, she was trussed into a dress that she could not walk in. She needed assistance in ascending stairs. She also appeared to be having trouble breathing and at one point people were wondering if she would fall over. Hey, being a superstar isn’t easy, okay?

Back to Ivanka, maybe that’s the message. She got snubbed on an invite to the Met Gala but she’s a star nonetheless.  Ivanka should not let the shining light that she is be “clubbed into dank submission.” No, she should stand up and revel in her glory. Just don’t wear a dress as tight as Kardashian’s.

Again, this is all speculation. Just another day in the Era of Trump. We boil the water and read the tea leaves all day.

  1. 😬 dank rhymes with stank… soul in da tank… she should not read her posts for awhile . After listening to Jared masculine voice… for some reason $kank…

  2. it occurs to me that the true meaning of this is… someone at Newsweek, a paid professional, possibly an actual journalist, monitors Ivanka’s Instagram feed and probably her Facebook page, x feed (oh just get used to it) personal web page as well as those of other such demi Celebrities. that’s kind of disheartening. I mean, who is Kim Kardashian? what does she actually do? like Ivanka, she had a famous father, at least in legal circles. if Eric the ridiculous gets all holier than thou over stormy then fine, he’s a more or less person commenting stupidly on a major event so tear him a new one like anyone else. but Newsweek wants to do a story on Ivanka’s poetry? having a ba in English I’d put right up there on a pedestal next to rod Mckuen.

  3. “club the joy out of life”. Ok. yeah, hmmmm. You mean the way you did princess when you spread your fecal mother’s day tweet of you holding YOUR small child while your father was ripping them out of the arms of their parents? Is that the “club the joy out of life” you’re talking about there princess?

What brainless rhymes with hunt. And if she wrote that, she sucks at poetry as much as she sucks at any kind of empathy. She’s a soulless b*tch who the world would not miss one iota if she was taken out along with the rest of her family.

  4. To the folks who are under the impression that Ivanka wrote this piece of poetry, I’d suggest you all go read the Newsweek article to which Ursula so kindly linked.

The poem (per the Newsweek article) is entitled “The Laughing Heart” and was written by a German-American poet, Charles Bukowski (additionally, the poem was performed by Tom Waits).
