Donald Trump is such a patriot that he is concerned that the nation may hear some untruths during the State of the Union tonight. Additionally, Trump brings unparalleled experience and perspective to any State of the Union speech, having given them, and knowing the importance of laying out one’s agenda honestly, and trying to unify the…

Okay, I’ll stop now. From Trump’s Truth Social Account we have something so profoundly unpresidential that it could only be done by a man so profoundly unpresidential:

I will be doing, by popular request, a live and full “Play by Play” analysis of The State of the Union Address, TONIGHT ON “TRUTH” AT 9:00 P.M. If properly done, and if Joe has just a modestly good night, this speech has the opportunity to rival any of the World’s great orators, including, Lincoln, Washington, and, of course, the late, great, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Winston Churchill. Watch Truth Social tonight. Enjoy!

Sweet Jesus as a guest of Doctor Jill Biden, how does Trump (or anyone) know that George Washington or Abraham Lincoln were great “orators”? Lincoln was certainly a great writer and almost certainly a great orator, but we can only confirm his writing. It is the same thing with Jefferson, Madison, Ben Franklin, and George Washington, though Washington doesn’t have the acclaim – as a writer – as the others. But there are no recordings of the speeches, and great writing doesn’t always equate to a great speech. Winston Churchill was a great orator. So was President Obama.

Donald Trump was not only terrible at giving speeches. His State of the Union addresses, like his inauguration address, were as divisive as anything ever said from that podium. Biden is much better at giving speeches than Trump, and it will be more inclusive than anything Trump wrote, but Biden’s genius isn’t in his speech-giving. It is in his compassion for people which should come out.

And Trump will pan it.

BUT: If anyone wants to live blog Trump live blogging the State of the Union, PLEASE feel free to use the comment section here to mock or humiliate Trump.

  1. FYI, Washington was despite his size and presence a soft-voiced man. When he was sworn in as President people strained to hear him recite his Oath of Office! And of course, speechifying after the ceremony wasn’t much of a thing back then. And Presidents didn’t go before Congress to give SOTU speeches either! As for Lincoln, yes he was quite tall (like Washinton) but his own voice was a bit high pitched – it was noted that especially in settings with other speakers instead of the powerful, rich voice of celebrated orators of his time Lincoln’s voice shot out like a trumpet by comparison. Made him stand out, but it’s also worth remember that even the Gettysburg Address wasn’t much of a hit when delivered, or for a long time after.

  2. Washington rode into the midst of his ‘army’ when they ran from one of the early battles they lost. He drew his sword and attempted to take a few of them out while on horseback. He was an inexperienced military leader with a ragtag group to take on the most powerful military in the world. He learned from those losses and by his true grit helped turn the tide, especially after the French helped. If the British had offered him the military position he originally wanted, we would still be a colony of the British Empire. History is a strange affair that often turns on happenstance.

    • Strange. The American public, 72% according to CNN, had positive feelings going way from the speech.

Head out of ass. Do you have a recording of Washington?
