It is a dangerous world right now. Anytime there is war in Europe, it’s a dangerous time. Most of the nuclear power outside the United States is in Europe, and so are the largest and most well-equipped militaries outside of the U.S. and China. Additionally, the E.U. is so central to the world economy that war in Europe necessarily impacts the world in a way that war in El Salvador or Honduras simply doesn’t, though – the cruelty and pain of war is the same for those involved anywhere.

There has never been a war between two democracies. History teaches that you need one unconstrained leader’s personal greed, aggression, and philosophical outlook to bring about a fight. If the U.S. and Japan remain democracies, we will never fight a war against each other. A country with a government “by the people” doesn’t fight another country “by the people.” “People” work things out. It takes a dictator.

Obviously, that dictator right now is Putin. There are those who believe that China is simply biding its time, waiting until the United States is at war with itself, shooting or not, to invade Taiwan: China, another dictator against Taiwan, a democracy.

The single greatest reason we have not seen a major war between superpowers or rich countries is the formation of NATO. Ask Sweden and Finland about how they see NATO now. The reality that NATO constrains all dictatorships, especially Russia, is likely the very reason that John Bolton predicted that Trump’s first move in a “second term” would be to pull us out of NATO. He must follow Putin’s demands. Trump’s withdrawal from NATO in a second term was easily seen and predicted.

It was less easy to see how, in an environment and situation in which it couldn’t be clearer as to the aggressor, Trump has now made Joe Biden the butcher of this war. Yesterday, I wrote on another site that Trump finally came out and said he preferred Putin over Biden because Biden is keeping “us” in the Ukranian war. Today, he insists in a video that WWIII is coming unless he is elected.

In the video (below), Trump also lathers Putin, the man committing crimes against humanity, is “smart” in trying to make parts of Ukraine “independent,” an outright lie. Putin wants all of Ukraine to “be” Russia.

But perhaps in a way, he is technically correct. We certainly will not be at war with Russia or China with Trump in the White House. The war Trump would start is a civil war in the United States, perhaps even on Putin’s orders, to install himself as a dictator. We as citizens are far more likely to die or have our lives disrupted in a civil war (which will spark wars elsewhere) than an existential threat of WWIII. Again, NATO protects against world war. Trump has promised to send the military into “the cities” that are not enforcing the law in a manner pleasing to Trump. How will people respond to such a move? Doing nothing simply allows Trump to form a dictatorship without conflict, keeping our democracy would require a fight.

So, while Trump once again throws out “Only I Can Fix It,” this time he means nuclear armageddon and everyone dying. That is upping the stakes a little, yes? It also conditions his voters into believing that partnering with Russia is the only way to prevent WWIII. That’s convenient:

“Only I can fix it.” He says that Joe Biden is the central cause, but what he’s really getting at (and he’ll make it clearer as time goes on) is that partnering with Russia, the other nuclear power, and allowing Russia to “have” a large piece of Ukraine, is the only way to prevent WWIII. At that point, Putin will wait six months and take the rest of the country unless NATO intervenes without us.

Ultimately, the quickest way to WWIII? The U.S. partners with Russia, which then gets increasingly aggressive, and NATO ends up fighting the two dictatorships because democracies do not make war with each other.

    . . . . . .
If that happens, hopefully Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will forcibly expel all their “Russian” citizens who exhibit any sort of “Russian pride” or “pro-Russian loyalty” just as Ukraine should’ve done back in 2014 when Russia invade Crimean. If the Russians in Ukraine really wanted to be Russians, they should’ve been given a week to get the f*ck out of Ukrainian territory and into Russia. And, for the last year, I’ve been saying the Baltic States should’ve gone ahead and expelled the Russians who refused to be completely loyal to the country in which they currently live. (I realize forced expulsion isn’t exactly compatible with the ideals of democracy but, then again, the Ukrainian Russians haven’t exactly shown themselves as being Ukrainians of Russia ancestry especially by trying to set up their own little ethnic Russian countries.)

  2. Trump is the ultimate measuring stick for the American republic. He caters to the violent stupid people who are unhappy with their lot in life and are looking for someone to blame and punish. Who the fuck is ‘happy’ with the ongoing struggle, unexpected misfortunes, unremitting ambiguity, sickness, injury, loss, and, eventual death that infuses every one of our lives? The challenge our founders put forth in a time with less cushion against those very things, was to PURSUE happiness and well being. Ironic that a pissant BORN into wealth only 1% of human beings on earth will ever know, is the most miserable, empty, and evil bastard around. He’s working feverishly to make the rest of us as miserable as he is. All the unpleasantness is buffered by most of us by LOVE. Love of ourselves, our children, family and friends, and some type of hope for a better day. He knows not love and sacrifice for others. That’s how he can inflict suffering, apparently without guilt. What’s he doing is to be expected from a malignant narcissist psychopath. Ever see a serial killer break down in tears in court over their crimes? Nope. Now it’s up to the MAJORITY of us to stop him and the rest of his child destroying cult. He will get worse as the hounds close in. We need to fight him and the rest of the nazis with the vote while we still can. As Ben Franklin said long ago about the revolution against the king, “we will either hang together, or surely we will hang separately.” Let’s hang together to stop all tyrants on our shores.

  3. Typical GQP double think
Ethnic Russians in another country – good people who are entitled to be protected
Ethnic Hispanics in the USofA – not to be trusted and should be forced out
