We begin tonight’s MAGA Nation coverage just like they do the Oscars, with interviews from the red carpet. You will hear from people who have been sleeping on the ground for three days, in order to ensure themselves a front row seat to hear the Orange Oracle declaim on his version of reality and what they should do about it. Spoiler to MAGAs: You might want to check on the number of insurrectionists indicted and/or sentenced before you go blindly obeying Gonorrhea Goldfinger, just a thought.

Here’s a couple with dark visions of the future.

“Be prepared for what’s coming if the thing doesn’t get overturned.” Civil War II. Okay.

Let us quote Thomas Paine, “To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead.” I will drop this link here once again, although the people here are not the ones who need to see it. The people at the Trump rally need to see this, but if they did, they would just proclaim that Bill Gates, Chair of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, is a member of the Deep State.

Gates goes on for seven minutes about how people who attacked the Capitol “were motivated by a belief that the election was stolen.” He then goes on to establish that there is no evidence that the election was stolen. But for the first time in American history, correct me if I’m wrong, a significant chunk of the population chooses to live in denial of fact.

This is dangerous. This is devolution, social decay, happening very quickly and in real time. And Trump himself is the one using the label “MAGA Nation.” That’s who he intends to speak to tonight. He never said he was a president for everybody, and that’s also the first time in American history that has happened. Every other president has acknowledged that he (so far it’s only been a he) appreciates the fact that many people did not vote for him and he wants to now bring the country together and be the American president. Trump never talked like that.

Here is a clip showing the die hard Trump fans. I knew somebody who slept on the sidewalk for two nights to get tickets to the Beatles performing at Red Rocks and that made sense to me. This does not.

And of course we must wax religious at this point. It is not an official MAGA event until somebody recites the dogma.

You know my opinion about which universe personality the Dreamsickle Deity worships.

And speaking of graven images, take a look at this MAGA. He fits right into Costco Marseille. Trump will probably offer him a cabinet position.

I don’t even want to know if he’s gold plated his toilet, like you know who. Some things are best left undiscovered.

The goal of tonight’s show is to elevate election denial and election deniers, as Axios reported four days ago. Take a look and feel your stomach sink.

Former President Donald Trump announced guest speakers today for his Saturday rally in Arizona, and most of them share a common trait: they led efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Why this matters: Trump, who remains the most powerful figure in the Republican Party, is making his false claims about the 2020 election the centerpiece of the GOP platform.

Between the lines: Trump has made clear to all who seek his endorsement that if they want his blessing, they need to make overturning the 2020 election as much of a priority as subverting future elections.

The details: The guest list for Trump’s Arizona rally is a who’s who of election deniers.

  • The headliner, Kari Lake, who Trump endorsed for Arizona’s gubernatorial race, told OAN she wouldn’t have certified Biden as the victor if she’d been governor.

  • State Rep. Mark Finchem, Trump’s endorsed candidate to oversee Arizona’s elections as Secretary of State, not only denies the 2020 election result but attended “Stop the Steal” rallies in January.

  • Arizona Reps. Paul Gosar, Andy Biggs and Debbie Lesko all voted on Jan. 6 to object to the certification of Joe Biden’s victory.

  • Kelli Ward, chair of Arizona’s Republican Party, pushed the false conspiracy theory that foreign powers manipulated Dominion voting machines to secure Biden’s election victory.

  • Boris Epshteyn, who co-hosts Steve Bannon’s podcast, uses his platform to promote Trump’s claims about a stolen election.

  • And Mike Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow, is arguably even more committed than Trump is to overturning the 2020 election. He says he has spent $25 million so far on his campaign to undermine and subvert the election.

  • The one outlier in the speaking line-up is Alveda King, who is Martin Luther King Jr.’s niece. She is an outspoken Trump supporter, but unlike the other speakers, has not made it her mission to overturn the 2020 election.

The big picture: Trump is also working to install Republicans in election administration positions who could be well-positioned to overturn future elections.

  • And he is methodically driving out and destroying all Republicans who say President Biden legitimately won the 2020 election.

Pause for just a minute and take stock of this. I think Axios is right. But if that is the case and it looks like it is, then literally politics in this nation has devolved into a battle between truth and lies. Policies don’t matter, they’re not on the GOP platform. This is, the fantasy of the stolen election. And woe betide any Republican who says otherwise.

  • On Sunday, Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that after investigating the 2020 election they found no evidence of fraud that “would have changed the vote outcome in a single state.”

  • On Monday, Trump sent out an email statement blasting Rounds as “woke” and a “RINO” (Republican In Name Only) and promising to never again endorse him.

  • These attacks come at a high cost. Republicans who’ve contradicted Trump on the 2020 election — from the highest-profile like Liz Cheney down to obscure state officials — have been inundated with threats to themselves and their families from angry Trump supporters.

The bottom line: Trump’s goal, his advisers say, is to either make life so miserable for them that they quit or end their careers by backing a successful primary challenge.

  • Trump’s efforts are working. His few remaining opponents in the party are mostly either quitting out of exhaustion or choosing to keep their dissent to themselves.

This is not America. This is nothing short of a declaration of war upon democracy and if we see it as anything less than that, we are fooling ourselves. Now is not the time to be an ostrich.

  1. He will comment about his “bigly” crowd, but what no one acknowledges is that it is the same crowd everywhere. This is the Mango Mussolini’s version of the Deadheads or the Margarita groupies.

You make an important point about their push to replace election officials. We need to be really diligent about focusing on these local elections that may affect our democracy as much, if not more, than national elections.

  2. Until they arrest and charge the orange hair beast, this is going to continue and it will get worse. We need to take a stand against such behavior starting from the top. Stop tolerating these bullies and start arresting for treason against our democracy.

  3. It’s time the Feds come down hard on all these Trump rallies by charging “sedition” on all the speakers, including Trump. These people and the dullards attending the rallies need to be reminded that “freedom of speech” is one thing and it does NOT cover “sedition.” These people are basically discussing overthrowing the government because they don’t like the people in charge but they should be asked what they would do to people who rallied against Trump claiming that he stole the election and that there was massive voter fraud that helped put Trump into office. I’m pretty certain they’d be the first to demand imprisonment, if not execution, of any and all Trump opponents.

To borrow from a somewhat infamous dullard, “Lock ’em all up” (and, preferably, throw away the keys for good).
