While some supporters of Donald Trump called for defunding law enforcement or even waging civil war following Monday’s FBI search of Mar-a-Lago, both backers and critics of the former U.S. president believe the raid could actually boost his reelection prospects.

Former Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin—who now condemns her former boss’ purveyance of the deadly “Big Lie” that the 2020 presidential election was stolen—said Tuesday on CNN‘s “New Day” that the U.S. Justice Department may have “just handed Trump” the 2024 Republican nomination “or potentially the presidency.”

“If it’s seen as some sort of massive overreach and not something incredibly serious this is a very good day for Donald Trump,” she added.

Politico‘s Meridith McGraw writes:

While Trump’s team was bullish about the political benefits of being targeted by the FBI, the situation comes with clear and obvious downsides. Legal experts said that it would be highly unlikely that the agency would have taken such action without clear evidence of wrongdoing—noting the rarity of a former president being targeted so aggressively. The search would require the signoff of a federal judge or magistrate, who would issue the warrant based upon evidence of a potential crime.

On top of that, Trump is embroiled in a number of legal dramas and headaches, in addition to being the focus and target of the House January 6 committee. Focus groups of Trump 2020 voters have shown that even they have grown wary of the drama that accompanies his political ventures and are ready to move on.

Appearing alongside Farah Griffin on CNN Tuesday morning, Trump biographer Michael D’Antonio said he thinks Trump’s inner circle is “delighted” by Monday’s search of the ex-president’s Palm Beach home.

“I think that they’ve been planning for this for years,” he added. “He’s been prepared for this strategy all along. He issued a campaign-style ad within hours. This was prepared in advance. He’s an expert of spinning everything into publicity… and that hardcore Trump group, that 35% of the electorate, is gonna be electrified by this.”

  1. Someone needs to tell the dumb-ass the NY Times has filed to have that warrant unsealed. When this happens, and there is absolutely no reason for it to be denied, the whole world will see what he stole from the W.H. (and if there are classified docs, it’s stealing). As support for TFG continues to peel off like it has, this is going to cause him to lose more. 35% of the electorate? Not after this warrant is shown to the world.

What also needs to happen after this warrant is unsealed is every ‘pube/RWNJ who has been screaming about this, Kevie, Yertle, etc., needs to be reminded every fucking day of their lives (or at least until the 2022 and 2024 elections) what they lied thru their teeth about and more importantly what they support. Rub their noses in it like it’s shit. If voters aren’t reminded on a daily basis just what a bunch of skeevy fucks these people are, they’ll continue to vote for them.

    • It doesn’t really matter what the security classification is (although that does have other implications). It’s illegal to steal governmewnt documents for any reason

      • True but when you say “classified” it seems to make more of an impact in people’s minds. Seems more important and worth executing a warrant. But you are absolutely right.

  2. The National Archives played nice with Trump and asked for all of the documents to be returned. He refused to hand over certain ones (almost certainly the most highly-classified); apparently he thought DOJ wouldn’t dare execute a search warrant. A bad gamble on his part.

  3. Yeah. Right. Saying this is a bad or counterproductive move is essentially saying there are no laws & just let the criminal fascists run everything so they don’t get upset. Sweetie…you have NO IDEA how upset I’ve been for the past 6 years & I’m in the fucking majority! By the way the military/police etc. are more than capable of putting down any militia. So go ahead & make our collective day assholes.

  4. Hey merrick. Good for you to move to reveal what’s in the warrant. Trump has until 3pm on Friday to contest the reveal, but since he is all about transparency & the truth, I’m sure he’s fine with it.

  5. Yeah, him getting raided might be good. Him getting indicted might also be good. My question is, what happens if the moron is actually in jail. What they going to do. Do a work release and let him out during the day and then make him report back to the jail at night.
