If we are going to hear from an aide to Mark Meadows, then we are getting closer to some of the bigger fish in this surreal and corrupt aquarium. And that’s what you can expect tomorrow when Cassidy Hutchinson gives testimony.

A lot of speculation went on today about different personages who could be the surprise witness. They may not be tomorrow’s surprise witness, but do not be surprised at all if any of the ones named, Mo Brooks, Ali Alexander, John Eastman are potentially people you will hear from in the future. Ginni Thomas, who is a whale in this small mudhole of key players, has already said that she will testify and “looks forward to it.”

Here’s what’s on the docket for tomorrow.

Daily Beast:

The witness who will testify at a hastily scheduled Jan. 6 hearing on Tuesday is Cassidy Hutchinson, who was an aide to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows during the insurrection, Punchbowl News reported. Hutchinson has reportedly told the committee in closed sessions that Trump approved of “Hang Mike Pence” chants from his supporters storming the Capitol in the hopes of stopping the election of Joe Biden from being certified, CNN reported earlier this month.

The committee last week also presented videotaped testimony from Hutchinson discussing how Reps. Mo Brooks (R-AL) and Matt Gaetz (R-FL) wanted blanket pardons for members of Congress who tried to subvert the election. The committee was not expected to convene another hearing until July, but on Monday made the surprise announcement of a new date “to present recently obtained evidence and receive witness testimony.”

It’s expected that there will be more insight into which congressmembers asked for pardons. You may recall Marjorie Taylor Greene lashing out last week when it was revealed that she had asked for one and she disputed that the source knew what she was talking about. That source was Hutchinson.

This could get very heated, very fast. Greene, in particular, has tried so hard to sell the fantasy that that no members of Congress were involved in the Capitol riot, let alone herself. That could all be getting ready to come out in the wash.

The hearing goes forward tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. ET. We will cover it here.

  1. Called it! Seriously, people, it’s always the bit players that NO ONE has ever heard of that cause the most damage to these arrogant would-be rulers. When in doubt, always apply the John Le Carre Rule: what is the most dull but plausible explanation for what I am seeing? It keeps you from getting too carried away on flights of fancy that media narratives sadly encourage.

  2. Ginni Thomas saying that she looks forward to testifying looks to be entertaining. I’m sure she thinks she will give them an earful, but I’m pretty sure they are a lot smarter than she is and it won’t go as she imagines.

  3. I suspect Gaetz was asking for a pardon that covered more than just his insurrection crimes. I cannot imagine him not asking for a blanket pardon which includes his pedophile crimes as well.
