This would be a great black comedy sketch and nobody would be laughing harder than me, but for the fact that not only is this real, but that the headlines are filled weekly, nowadays, with tales of the latest mass shooting. It almost makes you wonder if media outlets should just establish a Mass Shooting Of The Day board, and be done with it, because we know that if there isn’t one being reported, somebody in America is contemplating one. Or buying the gun and ammo to go do one. Or writing the manifesto about why they’re going to do it.

That said, Jeff Jansen, a self-proclaimed “prophet” who leads Global Fire Ministries International in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, wants you to know that the ushers in his church are real men, they pack heat, and they’ll shoot you dead, “like a dog” as Donald Trump would say.

This is the same guy who predicted in February that Donald Trump would be back in office no later than June.

He’s not our president,” Jansen declared about Biden. “He is not, nor will he ever be. Everybody knows there was a red tidal wave, there was a Red Sea moment, which is a red tidal wave. And quite frankly, America voted in Donald J. Trump.”

“President Trump is president,” he added. “We will be rejoicing in the streets by March, April, May, June. There’s going to be an amazing turnaround. You just watch what happens. And the world will rejoice. Not just America, the world will rejoice because of this exposure. I’m telling you that’s going to take place. I’m going down with the ship on this. The Lord showed me this.”

I hope that somebody shows him this post. As fate would have it, a bar in Murfreesboro, MJ’s Sports Grill, follows this blog on Twitter. Or used to. They may be afraid to now, because the pastor will shoot them.

  1. A nice Jewish boy thousands of years ago mentioned something about loving your neighbor as yourself. He also forewarned there would be false prophets. Finally, he noted live by the sword die by the sword. Wonder if this nimrod has ever read the new testament. Apparently the maga crowd isn’t high on reading comprehension.

  2. None of this “just shoot em” is biblical or anything resembling what Jesus taught. It sounds more like he’s a coward, than a “real man’. He wants people shot before they get anywhere near where he is. I would expect a pastor to talk to a troubled person and try to help them, not shoot them dead.

    • Did you listen to the first part of the tape? He says Jesus “whipped them!” I’m not sure who they were but Jesus, who was a real man, was not afraid to be violent. New information to me. I sorta kinda had the thought he was a pacifist.

      • The true irony about that situation is that Jesus only took that particular action (as referenced primarily in John 2:13-16) because He was upset at the MONEY CHANGERS–people who were PROFITING off the devout.

In the account from John, Jesus and His disciples are in Jerusalem for Passover when they come to the Great Temple which has literally been turned into a market place where temple authorities had people exchanging the standard Greek and Roman money for “acceptable” Jewish money as well as selling animals to be used for various sacrificial purchases. Jesus witnessed this and became angered at the idea of His Father’s “House” being turned into a den of commerce.

From John 2 (King James Version):

“13 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: 15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; 16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.”

So, for this obvious money-grubbing pastor (along with the rest of the “Prosperity Gospel” con artists and thieves) to highlight this particular incident to bolster his claim kind of proves that he doesn’t understand a single thing about the very book from which he uses (kind of like Trump). It is TRULY telling that the sole recorded act of genuine “violence” on Jesus’s part in the entire New Testament is one that would be, in today’s parlance, an attack on capitalism and consumerism.

  3. The perversion of politics is bad enough these days but what has happened to Christianity is horrific. I always identified as a Christian in my life. And I have read a fair amount of religion and used to attend church. No more. The word “Christian” has become synonymous with right-wing nut job and that is so terribly sad. I knew a lot of good people over the years in church. Never people like these.

    • Professed Christians let me down long ago and never stopped. It took a lot of years for me to stop calling myself one (funny how a community college world religions course can make you realize that you have other options). Funnily enough, this sort of disgraceful end for the Christian church was predicted by Matt Wagner in his Grendel series God And The Devil and Devil’s Reign…back in the late 1980s!

  4. They believe God will keep them safe from COVID so why not from guns? In fact, why do they need guns at all if God’s got their back. None of their “logic” makes any sense.

  5. Ummmm…I seem to remember rejoicing in the streets when Joe Biden was elected. Not just here in the U.S.A. but around the world! And I don’t recall Jesus being violent, unless we are talking a certain incident of overturning the tables of the money-changers…but I don’t recall anyone being injured. In my opinion, religion has little or nothing to do with the church. God ordained the church, a place for believers to worship, and non-believers to come to be saved. Man created religion to try to use the teachings of the bible to control his fellow man.

  6. ‘Christianity’ was created by the emperor of Rome over 300years after Jesus walked the earth. Read the text. The early devotees were called believers. They also practiced pure communism. Read Acts. They sold their possessions & placed them at the service of the Believers. “What the Church has done to Jesus is what the governor of California,(ronald Reagan), wants to do to the redwoods, take a wild & wonderful thing & turn it into den furniture.” Daniel Berrigan
