I apologize if this has been posted here before, last night was the first time I had seen this particular clip and I didn’t realize it was from Saturday when she also made her remark about hoping President Biden’s days “would be few”. As spike points out in the comments I should not have been surprised by this violent and ignorant strain of Christianity, it’s been around for a long time.
But still…
I could not find this isolated clip on YouTube but Yahoo News has text of her remark along with another bible lesson:
At a Christian event run by the Charis Christian Center, Boebert said that “little Twitter trolls” often challenge her pro-gun rights stance by asking if Jesus needed an AR-15.
“They like to say: ‘Oh, Jesus didn’t need an AR-15. How many AR-15s do you think Jesus woulda had?'” she said. “Well, he didn’t have enough to keep his government from killing him.”
Some in the crowd responded with laughter.
In another pro-gun rights statement, Boebert referenced the Bible’s first recorded murder — in which Cain, the son of Adam and Eve, killed his brother Abel.
“Cancel culture has been here since the very beginning. Cain canceled Abel. And guess what, it wasn’t with a big, scary AR-15, it was with a rock,” she said. “So I don’t think it’s a firearm issue, I think it’s a heart, a sin issue.”
I'm an atheist and even I think this is perverse. She's twisting an important part of Christian belief to serve her own ends.

Guess not.
Well, since gunpowder in a form that could be used in weaponry wasn’t even invented (in China btw) for over nine hundred years after Jesus died there’s a wee bit of a problem with Bobblehead’s musings. Ok, to be fair there are some ancient references (again, from China) a couple hundred years after Jesus about three powders that could mix together and create some type of reaction. Nothing more along those lines until the year 300 or so if memory serves but again not something that would resemble what became known as gunpowder. It actually wasn’t (again I’m working from memory so bear with me) the 11th century that gunpowder in a form that could be used for weapons was invented and even then firearms hadn’t yet been invented. Eventually though, in a few more centuries firearms using black powder were found in lots of places.
For all THAT, it wasn’t until the invention of SMOKELESS powder that “repeating” rifles took hold. Yes, there were black powder revolver pistols before then but for rifle cartridges black powder was problematic. It wasn’t until the 20th century that reliable automatic weapons that could be readily made were available – two thousand years AFTER Jesus was around.
One last thing. While the Roman Governor signed off on Jesus’ execution he TRIED to let him off the hook but the fucking RELIGIOUS leaders incited the mob who had only recently praised Jesus to call for his death! Got that? It was RELIGIOUS leaders who got Jesus executed!
Not that Bobblehead or any of her ilk care. They worship their “Assault Weapon Jeebus” and by god that’s that!
You call what these ‘pube yahoos are doing a “debasement” of x-tianity. As one of the many who are not x-tians I can tell you this is what we’ve been observing for over 1000 years. The players change from decade to decade but it’s the same violent message we’ve seen/heard for a very, very long time. We Jews rejected these yahoos from the start for very good reasons–x-tianity is demonstrably wrong. Of course, we were warned they were coming and told to stay away–the book of Daniel, a prophecy given to a Jew for Jews.
You are right of course, the Inquisition, pogroms, the conquest of North and South America and Africa, Slavery, the genocide of native Americans, for a religion supposedly founded on the teachings of a pacifist, Christianity has certainly been violent for a very long time. Even knowing all this, though, I still found her words jarringly stupid.

Well, I’m wondering if she has ever read the book. I know I’m not really qualified here because I quit Sunday school pretty early but what they were trying to tell me was that Jesus let them put himself on that cross to absolve our sins. Now with the power he had, he could’ve laid waste to that whole scenario but he didn’t. Now what she said shows she has no concept of what message he was trying to get across. This shows what comprehension skills these people have. Now take this to another controversy. The second amendment states that you have the right to keep and bear arms for your country. Well I forget the actual wording, but the gist of is that if you are called up to serve, you will not reach up over the door and get old Bessie down. The government will provide you with a weapon to fight with. Can you just imagine the cluster fuck you would have trying to get ammunition for everyone if they all had their own guns. It would be impossible and we would lose the conflict while waiting for ammunition. How stupid are these clowns.
