Remember the scene in The Ruling Class, where Peter O’Toole climbs up on a crucifix over the mantlepiece every night to sleep, because he’s convinced himself he’s Jesus Christ? Donald Trump is apparently preparing to posture himself as a martyr as well, because he’s given two clues of it just today. One is that he just fired the head of cybersecurity who said that the election was secure. That means he’s doubling down and ready to go full Deep State on his voter fraud scam, even though there is no evidence to support it.

Krebs expected it and so did everybody else. And then there’s this.

These two themes put together would seem to indicate that Trump is still refusing to deal with reality. And it’s not because of his delusional thinking. It’s because he needs to make some serious cash after he leaves the White House and that’s going to be Trump TV, which will most likely be a streaming service online. Or, he may broker some kind of a deal with Newsmax or OANN — or both.

If you want to know what’s going to happen next, channel your inner screenwriter and see what you think would make for maximum political theater and generate the most outrage in MAGAt world and that is what you will see. That is how Trump is thinking and that’s the course of action he’s going to take. Of that much, you may be certain.

If it somehow benefited him to concede to Biden, he would do it tonight. In his mind, the way to go is to hang on and publicize his lawsuits. And he might do that until January 20, when he is walked out of the White House. He may choose to be walked out of the White House, because that, guaranteed, will attract major ratings. The world will be watching that spectacle. And there is no shame in it for Trump, if it gins up the base and gets the donations flowing and the subscriptions sold to Trump TV. That’s the end game. There is no other. This is the Church of Trump we’re talking about, and he needs your money more than you do, so tithe away MAGAts.

From now until he gets walked out of the White House, Trump will do everything he can to create the persona of Trump the Martyr, who is the true ruler of Amerikka, now temporarily in political exile but soon to resurrected in 2024. And his legal problems will all be framed in the context of persecution. Expect Paula White and all the wingnut pastors to talk about the scourging of Jesus. You may depend upon it.

Here’s Pat Robertson, taking a break from chasing away hurricanes, apparently, and he says that Trump is going to win, too.

What’s comical here is that he doesn’t mention Joe Biden at all, he talks about “Bernie Sanders and OAOC [sic]” who are socialists, who will “take away your cars” and “won’t let people fly airplanes.”

My knee jerk reaction is to laugh, but there are too many of these clowns. 71 million, last I knew. Trump is going to generate as much chaos as possible, because that’s what he feeds off of. What’s good for General Motors is good for the country, we’ve heard. What’s bad for the country is good for Donald Trump, and that’s all he cares about. The needle is about to spike into the red on the insanity continuum, because that’s how Trump runs the vehicle that is his ego and his brand and the two are inseparable.

The Church of Trump is about the dogma of The Run Amok Id.

I hope he takes this time at the White House to have Four Seasons Landscaping put the Rose Garden back the way it was.

Cyber guy broke the two main Comandments of Trumpistan…..

1. Never tell the truth.

2. Never break rule number 1.

He should look at the bright side…..he would have been out of a job in January anyway, so why not enjoy having the holidays off and by being fired through no fault of his own, versus resigning, he qualifies for unemployment……if he can manage to file.

Better yet, he’s got a chance of getting rehired in two months time.

I said this earlier and I’m saying this again: he’s huffing and bluffing, same as ever. He’s got freaking Rudy Ghouliani in charge of those lawsuits and it’s doubtful that Trump’s that far gone to be able to think Mr. “Noun, Verb and 9/11” is gonna get too far after today’s disaster of a performance. The point of the threats is to make people give him a softer landing than what’s waiting for him after January 20. Don’t you DARE let him.

He really does belong in a mental hospital. I also agree with Bare Shark, it is a bunch of theatrics. Still, I can’t shake the thought that he is out of his mind.

Pat Robertson is out of whatever is left of his, that’s certain.

Considering that ‘satan’ is just the Hebrew word for an adversary or an opponent, it would seem that the opponent of truth, etc is sitting in the White House.
It’s one of those things that the even jellies always get wrong like
Lucifer (the bringer of light) aka the planet Venus/the morning star
Hell – the pagan Anglo-Saxon underworld (nothing about fire and/or brimstone in it)
Gehenna – a valley outside Jerusalem used in Biblical times as a rubbish dump
Sheol – Hebrew for a grave
Hades – Greek god of the dead (not a place)
But then they never actually got past the Old Testament

They never got past holding it upside down.

Which brings to mind the inverted crucifix, originally known as Saint Peter’s cross. As the story goes, he wanted to be strung up that way because he considered himself unworthy going out the way Christ did.

Maybe. As I recall (I got interested in this form of execution a while back when a doctor did a controlled experiment using himself – I dug a lot deeper than that TV show) there’s not really any evidence (including in the bible) that Peter was crucified upside down. There IS however ample historical evidence that crucifixion was a widely used form of execution during that era – a a means of quelling political dissent. It’s every bit as torturous and gruesome as one can image. I won’t go into all the details, or the discussion about how/why some people… Read more »

Oh, Daithi, how can you mention Hell and not talk Hel or Hela, Queen of Nifelheim, Loki’s daughter and ruler of the less-than-glorious dead in Norse mythology? And I’ve always been rather fond of this definition of satan or shathan: “accuser” as in a cosmic prosecuting attorney.

As a Religion major, seems both old & new advise against handing the accuser a bunch of evidence that Will be used against YOU.

Not bad advice…too bad too many don’t take it, eh?

“And he might do that until January 20, when he is walked out of the White House. He may choose to be walked out of the White House, because that, guaranteed, will attract major ratings.” Not if the media does the SENSIBLE thing for once (in the words of Edna Krabappel, “HAH!”) and keeps the cameras away from Trump after the New Year. Keep the focus on President-elect Joe Biden and his inauguration ceremony and events and leave Trump to Fox “News” and OANN (if they can round up a crew for it). If the real news networks feel they… Read more »

I would rather see him dragged out than walked out. I would love to help. Just tie his flailing body to the back of my power wheelchair and I will hit high speed (which is 4.5 mph)

He has probably realised that they’re going to take away his presidential limousines and stop him flying in Air Force One or Marine One

It’s deeply depressing that there are 71 million or so clowns who support him. In 2016 he was an unknown quantity for most people. Now, everyone knows what he represents. And yet people still vote for him. What is the matter with them?
