It is pretty obvious that Donald Trump is attempting to do a Big Brother spin in his last few days and just hope that it flies. Tuesday the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy ranked “‘ending the Covid-19 pandemic’ atop the list of President Donald Trump’s top first-term accomplishments,” quoting from Politico. What’s that you say? Infections have spiked to 70,000 new cases a week, which is worse than ever and one day last week the number was 83,000 — for that day alone? No matter. Trump announced that we have “rounded the corner” and he intends to push that narrative, the facts be damned. And he’s got this government office co-signing on his lies.

It’s the latest inaccurate claim from the administration on the severity of the pandemic, which Trump has downplayed throughout his reelection campaign, and as Vice President Mike Pence’s office is dealing with an outbreak. Trump, who insists the country is “rounding the turn” on the coronavirus, continues to hold packed campaign rallies and attacks the news media for focusing on surging infections.

Despite the White House’s optimistic rhetoric, health officials warn that things could get worse as winter approaches and people are forced to spend more time indoors.

Last week, the country set a new record of 83,000 cases in a single day, and the seven-day case average is now hovering around 70,000 — more than any other time during the pandemic. Over 42,000 people are hospitalized with Covid-19, up from about 30,000 one month ago, according to the Covid Tracking Project.

We are not at war with the coronavirus. We have never been at war with the coronavirus. And don’t ask what’s in Room 101.

I guess perhaps he’s setting all this up for his next career move, which might be setting up Trump News Network, as Kushner once suggested. He needs his “fix” for adulation and have some kind of voice in politics and to continue to promote the Trump brand. What better way to do that, than to have his own show or cable news network? I suppose if he has something on record anywhere he can always point to that and say, “now that was real news.” Or, perhaps he really is that delusional to think somehow this messaging is going to… Read more »

Do you know what this makes me consider? No…clearly you can’t because that would be ridiculous, so I will tell you. Lol. (Sorry…SoCal smoke storm has me messed up on asthma meds). In a typical presidential election it often feels like there are these huge national issues that get drowned out by local issues. What I mean is that we can be screaming SOCIAL SECURITY, but voters are opening their local papers and they’re worried about a local plant or the weather or a problem at their kids’ schools, and it’s difficult to get people to focus on the big… Read more »

Don’t even need the local news for that. I’ve heard the ambo run up and down my road all year. One day, the sirens rang out on that road ALL DAY. And this is a stretch of road where ambulances don’t pass through typically. It stiffened my spine on staying inside to stay away from COVID.

‘Claims’ that, yet again, cross over the line from ‘spin’ to lies.

Occam’s razor already applies, if the Trump campaign says anything, the simplest explanation is that it’s a lie.

Hate to be a contradiction here but this is less Trump channeling 1984 (which Warren Ellis rightly noted was more about 1948 than our present moment) and more Trump channeling the failed Vietnam playbook, particularly the Nixon portions. Like everything else he’s attempted, he’s blowing even THAT failed strategy.

Imagine in a time past we had CNN breaking news that a terrorist cell was traveling from city to city spreading a virus that was deadly, easily transmitted, & was already a mushrooming pandemic with no immunity & no vaccine. Oh yeah, that’s now. My bad.

I hope Uncle Joe has a list of every incompetent minion, henchman, and enabler that Trump has appointed in government and has their replacements ready to assume their duties on January 21st…..send the scum a packing to the unemployment line.

Too bad for now the incompetent imbeciles he appointed to SCOTUS are safe……for now. As seated, that court is now a joke and deserves no respect.

You really don’t think Joe ain’t making a list and checking it twice on SCOTUS?
