Donald Trump is having another bad day. He was already upset with Fox News for not doing their job, which is to get him elected. At least that cat was let out of the bag, and amusingly so. Here’s what Trump said Thursday.

Then today Fox rubbed salt in the wound with a new poll showing Joe Biden up six points from the last poll.

Eighty-eight percent are concerned about coronavirus spreading and 78 percent feel the economy is in bad shape.

There has been a seismic shift in views on the economy since the pandemic.  In January, voters rated economic conditions positively by an 11-point margin: 55 percent excellent/good vs. 44 percent only fair/poor.  Today, views are negative by 58 points:  20 percent excellent/good vs. 78 percent only fair/poor.

Positive ratings dropped 49 points among Republicans (from 85 to 36 percent) since January and 22 points among Democrats (from 31 to 9 percent).

That led to this today.

And what about Roger A’s beautiful creation? Trump is actually acting against his own best interests here in complaining about Fox, because the only way Fox stays credible at all is to have some occasional push back from somebody or something against Trump. Roger Ailes, who had been a consultant for both Nixon, Reagan and H.W. Bush knew that and put together a propaganda machine disgusised as a news organization. Rolling Stone:

The network, at its core, is a giant soundstage created to mimic the look and feel of a news operation, cleverly camouflaging political propaganda as independent journalism.

The result is one of the most powerful political machines in American history. One that plays a leading role in defining Republican talking points and advancing the agenda of the far right. Fox News tilted the electoral balance to George W. Bush in 2000, prematurely declaring him president in a move that prompted every other network to follow suit. It helped create the Tea Party, transforming it from the butt of late-night jokes into a nationwide insurgency capable of electing U.S. senators. Fox News turbocharged the Republican takeover of the House last fall, and even helped elect former Fox News host John Kasich as the union-busting governor of Ohio – with the help of $1.26 million in campaign contributions from News Corp. And by incubating a host of potential GOP contenders on the Fox News payroll– including Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum – Ailes seems determined to add a fifth presidential notch to his belt in 2012. “Everything Roger wanted to do when he started out in politics, he’s now doing 24/7 with his network,” says a former News Corp. executive. “It’s come full circle.”

The other thing that Trump doesn’t want to look at is the fact that at some point it will serve the higher interests of the Republican party and Fox News to cut him loose. Undoubedly that’s what keeps him awake at night with twitchy thumbs. He doesn’t know when that day will dawn but unquestionably it’s drawing closer.

If he’s livid now, things won’t get any better as we near the election. How many gaskets does he have to blow? I agree, pwhitten, tee hee, tee hee.

I think most of them are already blown. He still has some rage in his machine. But the machinery grows creakier by the day and even Adderall can only sustain a man so long.

And today, he could only manage two minutes at the podium before walking away, no questions taken. Does this strike anyone else as odd?

You’re talking about that hastily put together presser in which he “told” us houses of worship are essential and that if governors did anything to stop them from opening he’d override those governors, right? It was weird that his press secretary was running interference, ditto Dr. Birx, and that the message was so muddled. I read earlier today that no one was even sure he’d make this statement but even brief as it was, it was a doozy. Although we know he listens to no one, those around him surely know about separation of church and state, and about federalism… Read more »

That was the very one I meant, yes, and I’m glad you see it too. Some chemicals are playing a part on his mental and physical condition (beyond the less than healthy additives of his diet, of course) but I doubt he mentioned the right one that came with his “treatment” for COVID 19 or even Dementia-13.

How did the poll ever get to be 42-42 in April? Even now 8 points is not a big enough spread, because, well… it’s Trump.

Just a thought: Perhaps the earlier polls that all showed Biden ahead were partly because Biden was still just one of many possible opponents that Trump would face in November (those were months when a number of potential Democratic nominees were even with, or even slightly behind, Trump) while April was really the first month that it was basically going to be “Biden vs Trump” in November and, quite likely, there was some “disenchantment” by non-Trump voters. Remember that Trump’s number has pretty much stayed consistent in all the polls featuring Biden’s name (even in April) while Biden’s number was… Read more »

The churches are full of the brain washed. From Catholic to Pentecostal. If a representative of God tells you it is OK to lust after your racist/bigot Supreme Leader Klan Representative on Earth then you do. They know it is all bull shit, they are latching on to any right wing racist shit they can. My dad’s home health nurses know this pandemic is no joke and do not reflect Trumps cavalier approach to the virus. However, they have readily latched onto the China made the virus on purpose to kill Americans and dominate and rule the world lie. But… Read more »

It is my great fortune to have twice in my life been in two churches where what it was supposed to be about was actually so, Blue. Sadly, they were the exception and the rest were just as you described them. They never learned a truth I had absorbed by the time I hit my mid-thirties: God may save your soul but he will never save you from the consequences of your own mistakes.

He left early to go and make a faux noose (his hands are too tiny to make a real noose for the Fox pollsters)
