One day I will laugh about this, but today is not that day, I’m too disgusted. As expected, Donald Trump has hired “television lawyers” an area of legal specialization that he invented, and which is not found in any state bar directory in the country, to defend him at his impeachment trial. Visibility on the tube is Trump’s only qualification to save his hide legally. And yes, it’s shaping up to be exactly the circus that you expect, and then some. Fox News contributors Alan Dershowitz, Ken Starr and Robert Ray, of Whitewater fame, are set to go before the cameras. Needless to say, they’re framing their participation in the loftiest to terms. CNN:

In a statement, the legal team said, “While Professor Dershowitz is non-partisan when it comes to the Constitution — he opposed the impeachment of President Bill Clinton and voted for Hillary Clinton — he believes the issues at stake go to the heart of our enduring Constitution.”
“He is participating in this impeachment trial to defend the integrity of the Constitution and to prevent the creation of a dangerous constitutional precedent,” the legal team said.
Starr and Ray are expected to play a constitutional and historic role during the proceedings to support Cipollone and Sekulow.
Now this is great. We’ve got the Vince Foster and Whitewater crowd represented here, with Starr and Ray, respectively, plus Alan Dershowitz contributes all the élan and style that one would expect from associating with the likes of Jeffrey Epstein. The shade of Epstein is riding high, here. Bear in mind that both Starr and Dershowitz negotiated the sweetheart deal in Florida that kept Epstein out of prison when he was accused of the molestation of dozens of teenage girls, and Trump is hoping that they will work the same magic for him. And we look forward to Dershowitz keeping his shorts on, while we fondly recall that Starr was ousted as president of Baylor University in 2016 after an investigation of his handling of sexual assaults against football players was brought into question. This is shaping up to be a day at the political zoo, with these specimens in charge. Invite clowns, expect a circus.

We knew this was coming. Trump always gets his way. I guess none of his enablers have children, or grandchildren. They are woefully unprepared to handle a toddler, going through the ‘terrible two’s.’

You can’t make this stuff up. Is it too much to ask that more Dershowitz bombshells fall during the impeachment trial?

Let’s hope so!

Now to get him one and done, and send the bill for all of the grifting, unpaid taxes, loan sharking and money laundering to his best bud Vlad.

Well of course he got the smarmiest, no ethics-having lawyers to be had. I don’t know how those guys sleep at night. It must just be all about the money and name recognition for them.

Would anyone care to venture a guess about what “dangerous constitutional precedent” Dershowitz will be stopping?

If Dershowitz were REALLY the “Constitutional scholar” he claims to be, he’d be leading the calls for impeachment based on Trump’s willful and blatant power grabs and the way he routinely ignores the Constitution. But whatever pretense Dershowitz had as a “Constitutional scholar” and “defender of the Constitution” evaporated a couple of years ago.

He was trying to claim he wasn’t part of Himself’s legal team, just presenting a review of legal points (which would make him a WITNESS). Then Himself announced his legal team, and shot that down.
