Things Come Undone, Shocking Behavior on the Sunday Morning Shows

Down South, Sunday morning means church.

But throughout much of blue America, it means the New York Times, the farmers’ market, and Sunday talk shows, the period during which the news is analyzed, not made. Today revealed, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the nation is coming undone.

Where to begin?

How about Fox News, where none other than Sith Stephen Miller decried the coup instigated by those anti-American Deep Statists against the greatest president to bless this nation. Up with this, even Chris Wallace would not put: Via CrooksandLiars:

“This is a deep state operative, pure and simple,” Miller charged. “People who haven’t been in the federal government, who haven’t worked in the White House may not appreciate this but the situation is you have a group of unelected bureaucrats who think that they need to take down this president.”

“Enough with the rhetoric,” Wallace shot back. “Let’s talk about some specific facts in this.”

“How about answering my question?” Wallace interrupted after Miller tried to avoid the topic.

“I understand,” Miller replied. “I understand that you have your question, I have my answer.”

“It’s a non-answer at this point,” Wallace observed.

Well, alrighty then.

It must be frustrating to be the Trumpiest of the Trumpers, go on Trump TV, only to get one’s ass grilled for brunch.

Over on CNN, yet another Trump apologist got ridiculed by known liberal Democratic-Socialist Bill Kristol, not at all happy that Trumper David Urban refused to actually answer a question, preferring instead to focus upon meany Adam Schiff and his “made-up” story about Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president. “Pathetic” Kristol labeled the attempt, as the two began shouting over each other: via Rawstory:

After Urban frantically attacked Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) for reading a parody of the highly redacted transcript of Trump’s conversation with the president of Ukraine, Kristol said he was making too big of a deal about it in order to deflect from the president’s criminality.”This is pathetic,” Kristol began only to have Urban yell over him and what followed was a quick-paced back and forth.

“This isn’t about the chairman [Schiff], it’s about the president of the United States,” Kristol charged. “Will you defend the president’s behavior? The real transcript?”

Short answer? No.

“You think President Trump’s behavior was proper?” Kristol demanded.

“Is it proper for Adam Schiff to read something,” Urban attempted, which Kristol dismissed as unimportant.

To be real clear, this particular “always-Trumper” believes the real scandal is Schiff’s characterization of the transcript, and not the obvious illegalities within the transcript.

Once respectable Republican Lindsey Graham demonstrated that he either continues his descent into madness, or is having an increasingly difficult time fulfilling his role as the wholly compromised U.S. Senator in charge of covering for all things felonious Trump. Lindsey wonders why we haven’t yet heard from all the witnesses and are going forward on “hearsay,” apparently forgetting that Trump admitted to the gist of the charge, and also banking on Trump supporters’ inability to understand the words “impeachment investigation.” Also via Rawstory, from Face the Nation:

“The complaint sounds like a legal document,” Graham insisted. “Who helped this guy write it or this girl write it. We are not going to try the president of the United States based on hearsay. Every American has the right to confront their accuser.”

He added: “Who are these people and what are they up to? You know, Mueller wasn’t a witch hunt but this is. Salem witch trials have more due process than this! How do you know she’s a witch? Somebody told me she’s a witch. How do you know she’s a witch? I read articles thinking she might be a witch.”

Is there something wrong with the complaint sounding like a legal document? After all, it actually IS one.

Anyway, Pelosi announced an investigation, Lindsey. We will determine who is or is not a witch. Though, if you want a helpful hint, tell your friend to quit flying out of the White House on a broom.

Do note the real danger inside Graham’s quote, the not so veiled threat. “We are coming for you. We will expose you. Be prepared for all hell.”

And then there was Gym Jordan, he of the perma-scowl and wrinkled shirt, former Ohio State wrestling legend, and master of a legendary cover-up of sexual abuse of wrestlers, attempting to focus the country on the real issue, the fact that Joe Biden’s son made money in Ukraine. Which is really “rich,” since the Trump’s … never mind. The noteworthy, and breathtakingly elegant comeback from Tapper should go down in the annals of “Ouch! That hurt.”

Of course no one expected the Republicans to go gently into that good night, and certainly none expected them to immediately stand-up for the rule of law and decry a reckless president. But, … we come undone, in week one.

Oh, and it will get worse, because, lest you haven’t heard, Pompeo’s response to being named as a suspect in the crime of the century? Sigh …

Go back and investigate … Hillary’s emails.

As Yoda would say, “Break me a fcking give!”

“The Trump administration is investigating the email records of dozens of current and former senior State Department officials who sent messages to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email, reviving a politically toxic matter that overshadowed the 2016 election, current and former officials said,” the paper reported.

I will have a column on the email story itself later, provided I have the stomach.

Now would be a good time to remind ourselves that it need not be this way. A mature Republican party could state something like: “There are concerning aspects to the allegations, but we need all the facts. We look forward to a fair and judicious process, which we believe will ultimately demonstrate that the president committed no wrongdoing.”

We do not inhabit that nation, nor are we blessed with that Republican party.

On the bright side, we are finally definitively addressing possible executive lawlessness, and clearly the Republicans feel vulnerable. Apparently, the road to the truth runs through this wasteland.

Where it all comes undone.

And we’ve only scratched the surface.

Leningrad Lindsey ought to read up on the Salem trials. They *didn’t* get due process. They were accused and tried based gossip and hearsay only.

I got the impression that that is what he said and meant.

He’s apparently incapable of reading the WB’s letter…which is very well laid out, and isn’t hearsay.

I noticed you didn’t mention Robert DeNiro’s repeated use of the F word on CNN Sunday Morning today as an example of your supposed bad behavior. Your bias is so obvious it stinks.

I noticed YOU had no comment on the facts of this whole sordid Presidency and what the man who holds the office has said and done to the security of this Country. This Author was analyzing how the whole Republican party seems unable to see the forest for the trees so to speak. F word indeed….

Robert de Niro’s use of the f- word does not compare in any way to Rebublican’s defense of trump’s crimes.

Lone Wolf

Yes, you are certainly right, who in the heck do they think they are, saying such things to and/or about our dear leader, you know the one… the grab em by the pussy one???

The one who said he moved on a woman “like a bitch”???
The one who had affairs with women while he was married, including shortly after Wife 3 had a kid?

If you ‘scratch the surface’ of the Banana Republican Party deeper, you’ll find just more surface.
There’s just surface over no real substance.
A shiny carapace over a miasma over dishonesty and hypocrisy.

Don’t you love farce? My fault I fear, I thought you’d want what I want, Sorry my dear. But where are the clowns? Send in the clowns. Don’t worry, they’re already here. (Side note – as a kid, Judy Collins singing the last line gave me night terrors. That’s a scary song, lol) Republicans are in quite a bind. If you get behind Trump on the Ukraine call, you’re lining up knowing there’s a secret server with god knows what else on it. This is moving so fast…you could back Trump on a morning show and by evening Maddow is… Read more »

All that drama. Let’s stay focused on protecting the office of the president of the United States. Why don’t trumpettes care.

Thanks for the recap. I saw there was going to be a whole line-up of sycophants on the morning shows today. I don’t have the stomach to watch them myself. No ghouliani today? Chris Wallace is probably going to get reprimanded for not following the party line. I read Shep Smith got a talking to the other day for talking back to Tucker.

Lindsey Graham’s threat was the most laughable of those statements, which itself is saying something. These are people realizing that there is no way out and no reinforcements coming to help them. I’ve long been of the suspicion that the GOP waited far too long for this kind of power play. And now I know I was right.
