Somebody run tell Tommy Tuberville that Marjorie Taylor Greene just lost her House committee assignments and that eleven members of the Grand Old Party voted with the Democrats to effect that decision. Tuberville, if this is news to you, apparently has an Outer Limits-esque TV that won’t play news channels for him and the weather is so bad “it’s been a little rough looking at any news or whatever.” and that’s his excuse for not knowing anything about Greene. Tommy doesn’t seem to have put it together that being current on the “whatever” is a major part of his job. Maybe if Tommy’s TV starts working again, he can explain things to Kevin McCarthy, who never even heard of “Q-on, I don’t know if I say it right,” while proclaiming Greene’s innocence.

Poor Marjorie, she’s just a victim of a hatchet job by the Deep State. And that’s what she says about it, too. But McCarthy isn’t walking away from this so easy. Greene has been disciplined and McCarthy hasn’t been. McCarthy should have and could have taken care of this matter without it going to a House vote and he didn’t. That does not bode well for him. Washington Post:

House Armed Services Committee Chairman Adam Smith (D-Wash.) called McCarthy’s refusal to act a “national security threat.”

“While the behavior of one individual is deeply disturbing, her party’s near unanimous capitulation is even more alarming,” he said in a statement. “By pretending he doesn’t know who QAnon is and refusing to acknowledge the credible domestic terrorist threat posed by this group of conspiracy theorists, Leader McCarthy has proven he is not worthy of a position of leadership in the United States Congress.”

In one striking moment on the House floor Thursday, Hoyer hoisted a sign showing a Facebook posting her campaign made in September — one showing Greene posing with an assault rifle juxtaposed with photos of three liberal Democratic congresswomen and the caption, “The Squad’s Worst Nightmare” — and walked it over to the Republican side of the chamber.

“When you take this vote, imagine your faces on this poster,” he said. “Imagine it’s a Democrat with an AR-15. Imagine what your response would be.”

Do not forget, ever, that when Marjorie Taylor Greene met privately with the caucus Wednesday night, half of them gave her a standing ovation. They knew what they were doing. They stood — and stand — for Greene and for QAnon.

  1. To paraphrase Hunter S. Thompson who used this quote about nixon,(these yahoos make nixon look like a priest), “if there were any true justice in the world, nixon would be in the belly of a hammerhead shark, headed south of easter island”. How very true.

    • I’m not sure even a great white would want any of these Trumpublicans/QAnonsensicals in its belly. Sharks aren’t particularly finicky but I don’t think even they can survive the quantities of venom and bile that folks like Taylor Greene and Trump produce.

  2. I’ve learned something in life , leadership is a one way street, and doing nothing isnt leadership, I saw an interesting quote from John Hightower of Texas ‘The middle of the road is a yellow line, and flat armadillos’ Mcarthy is done by his own hand, let the games begin, the lights are on now.

  3. Liz Cheney is not among those Republicans who voted to remove MTG from committee assignments……I guess as long as she isn’t the one being threatened by the lunatic fringe everything is OK.

    *shakes head in disgust*

    • Well, maybe Cheney’s a bit concerned that McCarthy could pull Cheney’s assignments (especially since she was such a target a couple of days ago). I mean, McCarthy SHOULD have pulled Greene from her committee assignments but was too cowardly. I’m actually surprised the GOP caucus vote to punish Cheney was a secret ballot; if it had been open, she probably would’ve been censured and likely stripped of her leadership role (the secret ballot allowed all the scared GOPers to actually vote their conscience). Likewise, if the caucus vote on Greene had been a secret ballot, the full House wouldn’t had to have dealt with it. But, getting back to Cheney, voting for Greene here is going to take some of the pressure off her (and likely undercut any serious potential primary challenge next year).

  4. They probably figure that the “I think he was a coffee boy” bullshit of Trump’s might work for them too. However quite a few have found out the hard way that Trumpiam bullshit like that only works for Trump. One other thing. Is it just me or does McCarthy look like he’s suffered a major sunburn? Maybe he tried for a Trump Orange hue and missed the mark!

  5. Being from Texas I can tell you that a long venomous snake can be run over and the snake can still be wriggling after a rancher has run over the back part of his body. They can still be dangerous for too long.

  6. McCarthy is a waste of air, and Tuberville seems to have been what we believed when he ran for the senate, a victim of too man errant footballs to the head, mind you, that is, if it was his turn to be time sharing one of the two brains circulating in Alabama. Otherwise, well, we know the rest.
